These are straight from the Blu-ray. They are random as I have not watched the film yet:

The plot is very much Rear Window, except instead it's Bigfoot doing the killing.

I pre-ordered this. When I first saw started watching it on TV, I thought I'd be having some good laughs...turned out better than I expected. Glad to have it in my collection.

From the press release posted on the first page:
Quote:
Originally shot on 35mm, Abominable makes it HD debut featuring a brand new high definition transfer from the original camera negative and an ALL-NEW cut of the film with improved CGI-effects overseen by Director Ryan Schifrin and Editor Chris Conlee with enhanced color timing and correction and in this fully loaded collector’s edition set!
I can't wait to get this next week. It sounds like it's going to be a blast.

I watched Abominable last night. The transfer looked great. My subs got a workout too.

For a low budget film, I thought Big Foot looked great, except for his plastic, glow in the dark eyes (they couldn't have made the eyes more convincing?). I loved all the cameos in the film - Combs, Henrikson, Gleason - and I ended up enjoying the film too.

It's relatively well acted and written for a television production.

Lionheart and Return of the Swamp Thing just shipped too. I love Lionheart and I'm looking forward to watching Return of the Swamp Thing for the first time. More cheese please.

Keep em' coming MVD.

The transfer looked pretty good, I don't have anything to compare it to but overall I was pleased with the transfer. The color grading on the other hand seemed to be all over the place, blue tinted scenes smashed up against red/orange scenes, overall gave the film a strange inconsistency. It definitely had a very low budget and you can feel in just about everything. I loved all of the little cameos, it was great to see Combs & Henrikson share the screen for a few minutes. What really sold me on the film though was the Big Foot, it's so well done and not a giant CG creature. And the effects involved around some of it's attacks are truly spectacular. It's a fun film that I'll probably revisit a few times in the future, glad to have added it to my collection. I think I'll check out the two short films in the special features later this evening.

Mine arrived from Target today in their usual ridiculous packaging. Good thing they shrinkwrapped the slipcover, otherwise I would have probably torn it just opening Target's tight, unpadded paper mailer. I'm not crazy about MVD printing stickers onto the actual artwork though. Surely using real stickers isn't that expensive!?! At best it's cheap, but the rewind warning faux sticker seems especially inappropriate for this film considering VHS was pretty much dead and buried by 2006 when it came out, and Blu-ray was already kicking off.

I blind bought this and got around to watching it this weekend. I really enjoyed it. Matt McCoy did a commendable job in his role. The Bigfoot was pretty damn scary tbh. I could have done without the
[Show spoiler]tacked on ending with multiple bigfoot.
The transfer looks good, though like some I found the grading to be a bit over the top, and while nothing looked waxy, there was a distinct lack of grain for something shot on film, but again this is my first viewing. Overall, I am very pleased with this one and will revisit it. Also there is some unexpected nudity (at least it was unexpected to me) for those interested in that kind of thing.

[Show spoiler]I understand it was necessary to the story, but did anyone else find it odd that the bathroom window on the girls’ cabin was a straight shot to the toilet and shower from McCoy’s window, yet there were no blinds or curtains at all? Just doing their business for all to see. Ha

I rather liked the color grading. Especially the blue, It looked liked they filmed it in daylight and made it look like night with bright moonlight. It looked vary sharp and unique to me.

Edit: the screen caps look to me a tad oversaturated, compared to my settings/viewing.

The commentary with McCoy, Combs and the director is a lot of fun and informative as well. Apparently the main CG effects involved the displays on the computer monitors. I've been hoping to get this on blu for quite a while.
There's a "grindhouse," fanedit of this that's fun as well if you can find it.

The new, HD cut is 1 hr 31 minutes but the older version was 1 hour 33 minutes.

Does anyone know what specifically was cut out?

Edit: Never mind. I think they just shortened the credits or made it go faster.
