I never go to Circuit City, except of VERY rare occasions.

For me, it just always seems a bit dead. No matter how many cars are outside, there will always be an atmosphere of emptiness inside. Completely bizzarre. Checkout is usually a bit of a nightmare -- I like having the checkout conveniently in front by the exit, not a bunch of little pods that cause us to wonder if it's just a service desk, if it's checkout, or if anybody is even stationed there in the meantime.

Best Buy just seems to always more likely have what I am looking for. Plus, having the reward zone master card, I can get free stuff a LOT more often.

Another thing that turned me off of Circuit City long ago: they were the ones trying to kill DVD with the DIVX player (not the video codec, but the pay-per-view DVD format -- anybody that was an early adopter of DVD can should remember the BD vs. HD-DVD-like format wars going on at the early DVD forums).

I think it is a good place for the HD-DVD camp...

My hatred for CC goes all the way back to Divx (remember that one) so if they go it wouldn't bother me. But I think it might be better if they stayed just to have some competition with BB.

Exactly.

Competition only helps the consumer pocket book.

Best Buy is blue has better prices for movies and is more friendly than Circuit City which is red and has horrible service. The parallels are staggering.

My CC is always empty. They have helpless staff, very rude, and not well trained. When CC has a sale, I always have Best Buy pricematch them. Also my local CC is PRO HD-DVD.

If Frys continues to grow it will knock out CC I think. With a Frys (better prices than BB hands down) and BB in town.. who in the right mind would go to CC? They have a good auto dept for car audio and that is about it.

CC has the worse customer service I have ever seen. They may as well close or add self checkout lanes.

My local CC is terrible. Even just before the holidays, they only had two cashiers working. Unbelievable.

Default I say Tweeter is in trouble . . .

Their store and website have totally gone downhill.

I don't even shop there anymore. (I bought my last 2 HDTV's there too!)

Another store opened up near our Tweeter called H Gregg but I've never gone in there. It is brand new.

Circuit City used to be a good place to buy electronics. (I even forgave them for the horrible Toshiba computer I bought there once.)

But lately, they look pretty sad. They have a fairly new store near me that is disorganized (a la Wal-Mart) and its building actually stinks (smells like really strong body odor).

From my experience CC customer service is tons better than Best Buy. Best Buy just sucks when it comes to customer service. Best Buy wouldn't know customer service it if ran them over.

Well according to this they better do something and quick...

Circuit City: 'Dissatisfied'
Electronics retailer reports a wide loss and weak sales. Company blames slack demand for gadgets and internal problems. Investors see red.

By Parija B. Kavilanz, CNNMoney.com senior writer
December 24 2007: 11:17 AM EST

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Circuit City shares plummeted Friday after the retailer reported a much wider-than-expected third-quarter loss that it blamed on its ongoing store reorganization and double-digit sales declines of gadgets like camcorders and DVD players.

The Richmond, Va.-based company - the No. 2 electronics retailer after Best Buy - reported a loss from continuing operations of $208 million, or $1.26 a share.

Shares declined 24 percent Friday on the New York Stock Exchange.

Excluding certain items related to tax adjustments in the quarter, the retailer posted a loss of 64 cents a share.

"Clearly we are very dissatisfied with our third-quarter results," Circuit City CEO Philip Schoonover said during a conference call with analysts to discuss the company's results. "We underestimated the financial impact from the disruption of our transformation work."

Schoonover went on to say that Circuit City's "issues are primarily self-induced but are addressable."

Ive found CC to be a great store with no hassles returns providing outstanding extended warranties .There web site is user friendly giving the buyer info on item availability for local stores.
Warranty example,
I purchased CC 2 year PS3 warranty that cost me 111.00 dollars .If my PS3 take a dive within warranty time frame I can swap out for new or get store credit on the spot
