Correct ^ Panasonic's upcoming UB820 and the flagship UB9000 will support HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision as well as SACD audio.

I just built a page for the UB9000 that is expect too launch in the USA late summer 2018.

I have a feeling HDR10+ will never actually become a thing.

I'll probably pick up this player, but my Sony X800 is only a couple months old, so I may wait for a Black Friday price drop on this. I don't NEED the Dolby Vision.

I spent big money on a Panasonic A-300, one of the first DVD players released. It broke just a few days out of warranty and I had to pay to have it fixed. It broke a second time just after the warranty on the repair expired. Neither time did anyone at Panasonic offer any assistance even after talking to supervisors, etc. No one at Panasonic ever expressed the slightest bit of empathy for the situation. Their next generation of players, the A-310 and A-110 were equally problematic in my experience at a retail level. Panasonic will never again be an option for me after the way that they treated myself and my customers at the time. It's the same reason that I never bought one of their plasma TV's.

I and many family members still have several Panasonic Blu-ray players from the year 2010, and they still work perfectly fine. For being 8 years old that is reliable. Certain models have better build quality.

I did not realize this Panasonic UB9000 Blu-ray player would support Super Audio CD's. I wish it also supported DVD-Audio. When this Panasonic is released I will be interested in reading a professional review on its benchmark performance. This might become the new reference Blu-ray player that all others are compared too (THX certified, HDR10+ with Dolby Vision HDR).

It is very disappointing that OPPO, Sony, and all other companies no longer make a universal disc player that will play DVD-Audio discs and no High Definition CD decoding for HDCD's. As the years go on we start losing features and choices for legacy optical discs.

Where do you see SACD playback ? This look to be only for the UK market and probably priced at around or more then the Oppo 205 , wow!

Can't find anything on sacd for the UB820 either .

I posted this in the Oppo 203 Thread also.
Just reposting for the sake of correct info about SACD/dvd-a players available.

Thanks, I forgot about that OPPO clone for $699.99 without a front USB jack. The big question is well Cambridge continue to make Blu-ray players.

Not sure if they’ll continue. They could do the same thing oppo did?
Yes, it looks to be constructed well, but the higher price, lack of DAC & no Region Free Mods is a dealbreaker for me.
The good choices are getting harder to come by.

So has anyone seen the UBK90 in any brick and mortar stores? It was supposed to have been released yesterday.

There is already 1 user review on the UK site BTW

Quote:
I brought this on the 15/04/2018. Wasn’t sure if better than up970 . Well it is . Picture very clear on Dolby vision. Make sure you set it on 24hz . If you have Dolby atmos set up , the sound is amazing , set it on 192hz. It is better made than the up970. Oh by the way no noise when on , but must say the up970 after update was quiet as well.
So yes it is DV functional from the get go.

Note also the reference to the UP970 buzzing issue not present. Likely the increased weight has to do with a better drive cage, dampening.

And they ^ have me beat by .01 cent. We're at $297.00 delivered nationwide. :-( Hopefully our double boxing is worth the extra penny.

OK, just started a launch promotion and knocked off $20. LG also chips in another $50 if you bundle the player with any 2018 SUHD LCD/LED TV or any 2018 OLED TV.

Robert,

Do you have this in stock and ready to ship? Or are you still waiting for delivery from LG?

If LG puts out another 4K player without a Subtitles button on the remote, it will confirm that they've lost their minds.

@Frank@Chicago, yes LG's UBK90 supports closed captioning and you can engage and disable closed captioning with one touch button on the remote control.
