This is true.....however you must have a 2K or 4K display that supports HDR.
Gaming monitors in 2K with HDR are rare, there are NO 2K TV's I'm aware of that support HDR. So basically, the only way a PS4 can display HDR is on a 4K screen...and if you have a 4K screen, really, you are cheating yourself if you do not have a PS4-Pro ......in my opinion. Of course, I'm not considering any financial restrictions either. I realize not everyone can just go and buy what they want. But take it from someone who owned both, the enhancements in the Pro is well worth the price difference. Not only 4K and HDR support, but boost mode as well. Oh, and in case anyone missed it, Sony is discontinuing the initial model PS4 after this year. The Slim 4 will add an optical out, missing in the current model and become the main unit option, as well as the PS4 Pro. Still have not heard yet if the current PS options will get the HDMI upgrade from 2.0 to 2.1. |
