I think they missed the boat. They could have made it for this year and easily got it financed with Keaton coming off Spider-man and Ryder with Stranger Things. Burton could also use a hit these days. I would kill to see a weird surreal Beetlejuice sequel using todays tech.

Catherine O'Hara could come back, but I don't think they'd go after Jeffrey Jones. He could be written out as having crossed over, where Beetlejuice couldn't get to him. As for Michael Keaton, the makeup would do most of the disguising for him.

That would be a cool idea, seeing them play off each other again. Maybe some dialogue similar to this...

(Lydia stops her daughter from helping Beetlejuice escape again)

Daughter: "Mom!"
Beetlejuice: "...Mom...? Lydia Deetz is your...whoa, Lydia! Cute kid; what's up, babe?"
Lydia: "Thirty years, and you haven't changed one bit."
Beetlejuice: "What can I say? Time doesn't mean much when you're dead."
Lydia: "Beetlejuice!"
Beetlejuice: "Lydia...babe...hold up..."
Lydia: "Beetlejuice!!"
Beetlejuice: "Now, wait a minute. I apologize, okay? Forcing you to marry me was a bad idea."
Daughter: "What?!"
Lydia: "Beetlejuice!!!"

(He vanishes)
The best way to do a sequel would be for it to focus on Lydia, who is now a parent, and needs Bettlejuice's help to save her kid from supernatural terrors. No need to trot out the rest of the cast.

Saw this 3 times at the movies when i was 6 and loved it as i had toys, shirt and all plus i watched/taped every episode of the abc/fox beetlejuice animated show.

And with the new WB deal for Shout, who's up for a Scream Factory collector's edition of Beetlejuice in 4K or 2K restoration and extras galore?

The first Batman is pretty good, but a bit too silly for my taste.

I didn't like the Penguin character in the sequel.

Pee-Wee's Big Adventure was great when I was a kid.

...but I'm not a kid anymore.

I finally bought the Blu-Ray of Beetlejuice last year in October. The video on it blew away my ancient DVD copy that I bought when I was in High School.

I was a big fan of the cartoon show. I got up early every Sunday for that. Would love to see a stop-motion sequel or -hold it, hold it- remake of Beetlejuice. You see, as much as I adored the very inventive and funny cartoon, I never liked the live-action that much. And thinking of the recent Burton-movies, I don't think a current live-action sequel would turn out good. Stop-motion, please.

At this point think the best thing to do is not make a sequel. They should leave Beetlejuice alone, its just fine like it is.

The special effects haven't held up, but the story and the humor definitely does.

Disagree. Mechanical and stop motion work is still very impressive. Something more charming about how hard it was to make this happen as opposed to a lazy CGI-fest that would be done today
