Blind buy for me. Hope it's as good as the first film.

This sequel is not a home-invasion type of film. The first one is but this one compares a lot more to 80s camp/backwoods slashers. The way I like to describe it is they took the style of the first and passed it through an 80s conversion machine and the sequel is what resulted. Imagine something like The Burning or Friday the 13th (original) but more intense, somewhat unpredictable, and with developed relationships between the characters (the family).

I would pretty much say that Prey at Night is to the first movie what Halloween 2 or 4 are to Halloween

I think it might just add the Alternate ending.....

I don't know it's weird. Curious what the Unrated cut will be. It can't change much.

Maybe it’s a misprint. We’ll see!

^ Plenty of digital 2K-shot films are on 4K. For this movie, it's probably just because they don't think it will sell on 4K, for whatever reason. (Also, the first Strangers was shot on 35mm film, though probably finished on a 2K DI)

Think this might be region-free? I know Universal are a bit hit and miss when it comes to region locking their BDs.

Not sure, you’ll probably have to wait until someone here buys the disc and tests it. Universal handles home video distribution in the U.S for a lot of films that they don’t distribute theatrically: STX Entertainment, Neon, Aviron Pictures (The Strangers: Prey at Night & Kidnap). So it may be that another company has home video rights in another country which would require them to region lock.

Can't wait. Day 1 for sure. My #2 of the year so far behind Annihilation. Just wish we were getting a steelbook.

Pretty much. I thought this one was completely lacking in the tension and atmosphere that made the first movie so enjoyable. But it could be that as I get older slashers just aren't as entertaining as they were in my childhood. This one just wasn't working for me as a straight slasher and although the feel did definitely have some nostalgia and take me back to a different era the film in the end wasn't very memorable. Several times I was laughing out loud or shaking my head at the dumb cliches and just about all of them seemed to be represented in this movie.

I'll pick this up at some point, but will probably wait for a price drop. I absolutely love the last 20 or so minutes, but I have to keep reminding myself that the first 2/3rds of the film vary from pretty okay to almost terrible at times.

But overall, I liked it. A strong ending can really help a movie like this. It's a good companion to the first since they are totally different.

As I expected, the only difference between the unrated and theatrical cuts is some extra (awful CGI) blood. Still an incredibly fun movie.

Ugh.... so they cut cgi blood from an R film..... it always has bugged me that blood (especially cgi) may need to be cut from a film even when it's R but most everything else is fine. We'll minus excessive nudity.
