We first heard that a remastering had began in late 2011, right? I hope they finish and get it out this year, but that may be a bit too optimistic. It makes more sense for them to release it as an anniversary edition.

I honestly want a 2 disc double feature with U.S. Marshals and the remastered version of The Fugitive, but I doubt that will happen.

I think so; someone else posted a thread about an interview with a WB exec, who mentioned the film was being worked on.

Yeah, I'm with ya there. I'd love for them to release it ASAP, but if it means more care is put into the release, then 2013 is fine by me.

Same here lol...I forgot how good this film was. Ordered a copy on eBay brand new for $8. With a price that low I figured why wait.

Can someone tell me if the Blu-ray image really has the pixelation/stairstepping that I keep seeing on screencaps? I assume that's what's on the disc, but maybe the two screencapturers goofed and did poor compression. ;p

It's super noticeable on the glasses here:

https://images2.static-bluray.com/re...31_3_1080p.jpg

and around the collar and tie here:

https://images3.static-bluray.com/re...31_8_1080p.jpg

caps-a-holic have caps of the German HD DVD and it has all the same problems:

http://caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergleich...h=the_fugitive

This is exactly why I avoided the Enter the Dragon Blu-ray. No HD transfer, no matter how much more detail it has over the DVD, will be worthwhile to me if there's this kind of pixelation.

I'll wait for the eventual remaster, heh. Was considering ditching my DVD and picking up the BD for cheap.

good film just bought for 8 bucks today at BB. While I love PQ, this film isn't going to look amazing on bluray even with a remaster. For 8 bucks, why not? Never had it on any format before. Popped it in just now and while its flawed, its a decent transfer

It is a great film, one that I decided not to buy because of the poor reviews so a remaster will be more than welcome(PQ and AQ).
In saying that I was tempted yesterday to buy this for £4

Did you get the MPEG-2 or VC-1 encoded version?

I'm watching The Fugitive on Spike HD right now, and it doesn't look THAT bad. Is the HD TV version the same master used for this blu-ray?

Whenever I see this thread I always think it's about the original TV show.

Which is superior to the feature. Any chance we will see blu-ray editions of the show, which was generated on 35mm film?

Yes. It's full of jaggies. Same thing as on the original Lethal Weapon 2, Enter the Dragon, Full Metal Jacket, Willy Wonka (HD DVD) releases.

It doesn't matter. They both have the jaggies. FWIW, at least Fugitive and Willy Wonka don't suffer as much as Lethal Weapon 2. Most disappointing for me is that when LW 2 got remastered, the color timing was changed. So I'm not happy with either.

I was recently in Bryson City, NC where some of the movie was shot. The train wreck scene bus and trains are still there.....
