Never even seen the original yet so I'll have to blind buy both.

Original was great! Don't think I was aware of a sequel. I'll definitely check this out.

A MOD title can be a pressed a disc. It’s similar to the Warner Archive Collection: catalog titles that won’t be mass produced to be sold in physical retail stores. Online retailers only. That’s why the price generally stays around $20.

Allied Vaughn considers it a MOD (media on demand) title.

That's the one thing I never got; how come Universal never made an announcement about doing "MOD" Blu-ray discs? Granted so far they're all factory-pressed, but I'm surprised they haven't said anything let alone use the Vault Series label on their Blu releases to state that fact.

I'm sure I've seen this, but for the life of me can't remember anything about it. Looking forward to refreshing my memory, assuming Universal's MOD line ever drops in price to something comparable with Warner's. If they look like they never will, I'll eventually pick up my must haves, since Universal has already proven they're a LOT smarter than Sony by actually pressing their MOD line. But were they to have a sale like Warner's $11 dollar MOD sales, I'd probably buy them all, which is likely when I'd get this one being a sequel I can't even remember, sibling to one of my favorite films or not. So, it might be a while.

I'm surprised so many people didn't even know about the sequel. I saw it in the theater.

I agree with most here. It's no classic like the original but it's not bad and it's interesting in its own way. I bought the German release in 2012 but I kind of forgot about it and Ive never watched it. I'm going to soon now.

It's a lot better than The Two Jakes, Texasville etc.

I seriously don’t know how many threads this gets posted in and it frankly starts to get very frustrating. MOD is NOT analogous to BD-Rs. Just as Warner Archive MOD blu-ray releases are pressed discs, so are Universals including Fletch Lives.

I watched this one time several years ago, and from what little I can remember it was boring as hell and nothing like the original. Just a completely forgettable sequel.

The fact that this kind of crap gets a blu-ray release while every single person on this site has a list of 10 great films that that DESERVE a blu-ray just shows how screwed up the studios are with their priorities as far as what the people want. The bone head executives will use the sales of garbage like this to justify not releasing the movies we all want....

This might be a stupid question, but if a disc is factory-pressed, what makes it MOD? I doubt the studio literally manufactures the discs on demand like they do with BD-Rs.

Also, I'm pretty sure if the cover art has the official Blu-ray logo, it's pressed, but if it just says "Blu-ray Disc," it's BD-R.

I'm not a huge fan of More American Graffiti, but it's a decent and good enough sequel, although nowhere near the excellence of the original, of course. But I don't see any reason to be upset about it being released on Blu. Yes, many other films that are unreleased are way better, but let's be happy with any obscure catalog titles that come out on Blu, and hope any other better films show up soon as well. The more the better!

Good point. I just get frustrated because there are still A LOT of classics yet to be released on blu (hell I don't even care if there are extras and I LOVE extras) but you are right, the more the merrier. I like a lot of bad movies and I definitely want those released along with the classics.....

Is there any version of the original out there that doesn't have the absurd overdarkening of the picture?

The MOD just signifies that it's printed in limited quantities and "fulfilled on demand". The demand presumably coming, at least initially, from whatever online retailers choose to stock them. So they're not literally "manufactured on demand" in the strictest terms.

But however "MOD" or "Manufactured on Demand" is defined, people have to stop thinking of MOD and BD-R as analogous terms because they're not.

Correct. If it's a BD-R, it cannot have the official Blu-ray logo on it. It will just have it written out as "Blu-ray Disc" with the TM next to it on the cover art and on the top of the plastic keepcase.
