Yeah, the teaser had a lot more "heft" to it. I guess they want something that's OK to show in front of another movie?

This was good and well worth checking out, it's brutal and well acted with great cinematography. I won't compare it to the original but it tells the story well and the make up FX are excellent.

I thought this started out alright... not on the same level as the original, but at least the Soskas had their own elements (i.e. the fashion world commentary, and particularly how body image issues could connect to body horror). But it got really goofy in the third act when (mild spoiler)

Ultimately, I'd say it's watchable if you're just in the mood for a modest horror film with decent production values to kill 90 minutes. But if I were Cronenberg, I'd probably be a little insulted.

No planning on seeing this Rabid re-make theatrically, but will see it at some point. It looks like an interesting update to one of my favorite horror flicks. I'm a big fan of the original '77 Cronenberg movie; in fact, the '70's - early/mid '80's are my favorite era for Cronenberg films.

I‘m not that big a fan of the Cronenberg movie, I think his first genuinely great film was The Brood. Certainly curious about this I think the Soska sisters themselves haven’t made a great horror film yet, but there was promise in American Mary.
