This is a very worthy title that everyone should pick up during the current Criterion 50% off sale.

I wanted this title on BLU for so long I couldn't wait for the sale to start and bought it on release day.

Just a great transfer, awesome performances from Beatty, and I love classic Goldie Hawn, and I really love her performance here.

My god... Carrie Fisher is just so stunningly perfect in this... along with "A New Hope"... but as soon as she started taking drugs and lost the little bit of chubbiness in her face (evident in Empire).. ehh

I think she looked her best (as Leia) in The Empire Strikes Back. She looked a little rough (drugs are bad) in Return of the Jedi, but the gold bikini made up for it.

Watched Shampoo on the new Criterion Disk a while back. Wow - excellent PQ, and great film. I had only seen this once before (on the old DVD), and this new print was incredible.

This film was an excellent period piece - i.e., it took place in 1968, but came out in 1975. The late '60's rock/pop music was fantastic; Jimi Hendrix; Beach Boys, and the iconic tracks from the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967), one of the best rock albums ever produced.

Re: Carrie Fisher, as a pre-teen I saw a heavily edited version of Shampoo on TV back in the early '80's. But, as edited as it was, they didn't bleep out Fisher's "wanna s$#%?" question/come-on to Warren Beatty. At the time, I remember being surprised by this, and thinking that Princess Leia would never have talked/acted that way - LOL.

Absolutely agree about the print and the movie! So glad Criterion put this out...

But yeah Carrie Fisher is perfection in this, I just wanna pinch her cheeks! but Goldie Hawn is stunning as well!

Watched this for the first time today via Criterion Channel and it was great. Wow, what a scathing film that was parts funny, raunchy, and poignant. It hit all the right notes. Also, Carrie Fisher wasn't a pre-teen in this, she was already 18-19 at the time. FYI

Actually, based on the filming dates at IMDB and her birthday on Wikipedia, she would have been 17 throughout filming.

Born: October 21, 1956
Filming: March-August 1974

Ah, gotcha. A few months short of 18. Man, that was a 5-month shoot, what the hell.

It's possible that includes reshoots. I don't know much about the production, but I can't believe they shot for 5 months straight.

According to the AFI the shoot was from March 11th to "late June" 1974.

Judging by the quality of the transfer on this blu ray, a UHD would likely be a stunner. Judging by some of the prices I've seen on this disc, not Too long after release, I'm not holding my breath for a 4k release. But if like Blow Out they circled back and gave this the 4k upgrade, I'd be most appreciative. One of my favorite films.

Per Blu-ray.com's review by Dr. Svet Atanasov, Warren Beatty's hair was not fake in this. Now, Julia Christie on the other hand. She was wearing a wig. And it didn't look real.

Sort of has the Linda Blair EXCORSIST 2 (1977) look in the chubby department.

If someone told me that was Linda Blair I wouldn’t have doubted it for one second. That’s basically exactly what Blair looked like that same year.
