Absolutely ^ correct, but these two new BD players (Pioneer Elite UDP-LX500 and Panasonic UB9000) are designed for the serious enthusiasts niche.

They will be built in small production runs with very serious q/c to ensure the best end results.

Low production runs is a wise choice.

Any word on the LX800 with better audio section (i.e., better DAC, power supply, balanced out etc)?

No balanced XLR outputs. Pioneer's Elite BDP-LX500 has 7.1 RCA analog audio outputs, digital optical, digital coax and HDMI audio out.

Oops, sorry, I read your post to fast and thought you were asking about the upcoming LX500.

What's the LX800? I've not hear of that model.

You don't usually see Pioneer decks on the region-free mods websites, is there any chance that this will be able to be region-free modded?

It's supposed to be the replacement for the LX88.

LX58 -> LX500
LX88 -> LX800

Nice! Looks like they've spotted an opening in the market after Oppo's departure.

More likely it just took them that long to get their act together marketing a UHD BD player.

If I had to pick em in October I would still bite on the Panasonic UB9000. Don't get me wrong Pioneer makes a great disc player but I am more impressed with that model. If this has Dolby Vision I may reconsider.

I'm trying to read this on a phone and these old eyes can't see that little text above the unbalanced stereo outputs. What's it say?

Isn't that photo from an old 'press release demo'.... It's not even showing the two HDMI outputs (that all UHD players have) or the multi-channel analogue outs!

I can confirm Pioneer's Elite UDP-LX500 will be Dolby Vision capable.

I believe the other HDMI port is on the other side, next to the HDMI cable. Will the Pioneer player be THX certified like the Panasonic?
