this is what I hate about the 90s. generic crappy thrillers that are basically horror lite. pass.

although I love me some front 242. tyranny for you is a favorite album. and I remember what a pleasant surprise it was to hear them in the guest.

you're right. I still can't believe how bad demons 2 is. I love synapse but that is probably the worst purchase I've made.

I just love demons and was hoping that it would half as good as the first one.

here's something about single white female... the 80s were an era with name directors in the genre. but can you name off the top of your head who directed this movie?

I actually haven't seen the movie since maybe 1995? So, no. But looking now, the guy that directed this movie had a really long career and made some other good movies including Reversal of Fortune and Barfly.

Without looking I couldn't name you the director of American Psycho either, but its still a very entertaining movie.

What makes the 80s different than the 90s?

I’ve learned here never trash a genre or certain movies you don’t like. Otherwise you will be made a fool out of. This movie is pretty twisted with some gritty elements you wouldn’t expect even in horror. I wonder if Unlawful Entry will get a release?

And I still don't understand why some people here come to a thread of a film they don't like and have no interest in buying just to say so. Ok, thanks for the information?

well played sir or madam.

we all like the genre for different reasons. I personally and more into the fantasy horror and really look at the filmmaker when searching for new titles. because of you're a horror fan, you have had to sit through a lot of junk.

and with horror lite, it's kinda disappointing because it tries to take the tropes and emulate a horror movie, but doesn't want to be a horror movie. so it's kinda like this weird bland middle.

maybe it's not as bad as I remember, but I wish we could see what scream factory had access too. what obscure gem are we not getting because they chose this?

if people like it, great. I'm not trying to put people's taste down. I hope all the scream factory titles make money because they do consistently put out great releases.

My meaning was that he was complaining about thrillers of the early 90's and I was just pointing out that the 80's had them also. In fact, it was probably Jagged Edge and Fatal Attraction that started the crazy person thriller thing. Yeah, I know there were some made before that like Play Misty for Me, but I think the trend we saw in the early 90's was based off of those mid to late 80's thrillers.

I guess he or she was implying that the early 90's thrillers were faceless and they most people can't name the directors of 90's thrillers like Single White Female. I guess he/she feels that supports the idea that the early 90's thrillers were cookie cutter?

Like the movie or not, I think most movies deserve some sort of release. Sometimes I say otherwise in jest, like in the case of April Fools Day. I hated it, and I joke and say that it should be forgotten about, but it clearly is popular enough to warrant a release.

Single White Female is one of the more popular 90's thrillers. It might not be remembered as much as Basic Instinct or Fatal Attraction (just like Copy Cat isn't quite as memorable to people as Silence of the Lambs or Seven), but it still has enough popularity that a release from Scream is understandable.

80's had leg-warmers and neon color clothes.

90's was spandex/biker shorts and lots of dark clothing.

More important, I could drink legally in the 90's, no more "minor in possession" tickets, just drunk and disorderly or DUI arrests. Wait a second; that was far worse!

80's were fun, 90's kinda sucked!

I love JJL but I can understand why her role in Georgia was overlooked as she had played slight variations on basically the same the damaged person in like a half dozen films within that 5 or so year period.

So a victim of her own success to some degree? I guess.. I still say she deserved more praise than Mare Winningham. I think it might one of those deals were JJL was very active in the 90's, and so of course some similarities in her performances could be seen... Mare on the other hand was rarely in anything of note and so people assume that she was giving a more original or fresh type of performance. I mean, that was probably the only relevant role she had in the 90's

JJL's most hated/damaged character was probably in Bastard Out of Carolina. As big of a fan as I was then, her character in that film almost made me hate her for awhile. lol

Problem with 90's movies in general is, I barely remember any of them, because I haven't seen a lot of these types of films since then (when they were first released on VHS). I think I remember liking this one, but I guess, if the price is right, ill just buy it and see...

I think it's because 'we' haven't quite yet reached the age of 90s nostalgia the way we have the 80s.
