It's a shame for me to admit it...but I will likely pass on this one. I actually prefer the 1999 color timing, revisionist though it may be. And I like the extra TV scenes (yes, I know it "destroys" the pacing...of a 90-minute film ...but I really enjoy them a lot). I created my own version recently with the color timing I prefer on the latest transfer, the date card for "Smith's Grove, Illinois / May 31, 1964", and the original mono audio. Can't see a UHD version offering all of that. I'll gladly retire what I've made for myself if I'm wrong...but I'm fully aware that my preferences on this movie are very specific, so I don't expect to be catered to.

And as for audio, they can Atmos the shit out of it for all I care just as long as they put the original mono on there.
There's one thing you can always count on with every new home video release of Halloween: It'll look nothing like the previous ones.

The original mono is a must.

A little off topic, but I'm curious if anyone can answer this: how many UHD releases have included their original mono track so far?

Not sure how many movies released on UHD even had a mono track originally. Maybe Bridge/Kwai?

I was thinking the same and I don't recall Kwai having the option. I'm wondering if there's any precedent at all.

and for that very reason, I'm not. I'm finding that 4k releases, for the most part, need to be reviewed before I buy. I love 90% of what I've bought so far, but there were a couple I regretted.

It would be nice if they also release Halloween 3 on 4K UHD.

A movie I don't have in my collection. I never did get around to buying the BD even though I've come close a couple of times.

I'm just not sure how much I like it anymore. I used to watch it regularly back in the day but the sheen just sort of wore off for me. Still no denying it is a classic so I might go for it as long as it's priced reasonably.

No, The Bridge On The River Kwai doesn't have a mono soundtrack in 4K, only Dolby Atmos and DTS 5.1 Master Audio.

Kwai did have a mono track originally but only on the 35mm prints. The BD & UHD use the 70mm 6 track mix.

I’m betting they won’t do any others, because the new one is a direct sequel to the first, and the others have now never even happened in that world.

I thought the 35th Anniversary blu ray looked great. I'm sure I'll pick this up as long as they don't brick on the transfer and/or packaging.

There are some elements of the sequels that I enjoy, but I still think this series is best experienced by simply watching the first one and pretending that the other films were never made. I'll reserve judgment on the new one for the time being, but...
