The second is just as beloved if not more than the first so I don't think they'll offer just the first separately like they are with Predator.

Yeah, 2 is my favorite, though 1 is also very good. Honestly, I don't hate 3 as much as most people, but I understand the hate

2 was awesome. Wolverine trying to help the kids escape the school was a pretty awesome scene. Then the fight at Alkali Lake was pretty epic, too.

Ahhh, so much goodness in X-2...

With the new UHD masters on Apple TV I watched all three back to back for the first time and it's a pretty solid trilogy. Last Stand is definitely not as bad as the overall consensus would suggest, they all fit together well.

Last Stand's main problem is the fact it was constantly changing during pre-production. From what I can gather, in early drafts the cure storyline was meant to be a subplot to the main plot of the Dark Phoenix but Fox pressured for the Cure storyline to take greater prominence as Fox felt it gave a better reason for Magneto's conflict with the X-Men in the film (sounds like Magneto trying to manipulate Jean into joining his side was more prominent in earlier versions of the film and the main source of his conflict with the X-Men). Fox kept forcing the cure plotline and pushing the Dark Phoenix plot out of focus (to the point the writers were fighting to stop it being cut altogether). Fox apparently felt Dark Phoenix was too dark for a summer blockbuster, while the writers felt it was the emotional core of the film. The final film being a bit messy is most likely a result of this continuing conflict between the writers and the studio.

It probably didn't help that the script was already a merged version of two different scripts as both Simon Kinberg and Zak Penn wrote scripts independently and then later merged them into one script.

These X-Men movies have a 4K DI? I doubt it, I don't even think the first one from 2000 had a DI and was finished photochemically.

The first two were finished photochemically. I believe 3 had a 2K DI.

Great news! I would like individual releases but a la Harry Potter or Planet of the Apes, the original story arc has ended, so a boxset wouldn't bother me.

They may not have much confidence in Last Stand selling on its own, so Trilogy-only might still be possible. Prefer individuals though, X2 is the only priority for me.

A regular case for all 3 is fine. It only annoys me when chronologically I can't put them in order.

With all the good stuff coming out Aug-Sept, I suppose I could always part with a kidney or maybe even my appendix for extra cash...

Either way this will be a delayed Bday gift for my self.

Wow, ~$15 a movie is already a pretty great price especially given how fantastic the new UHD masters look already on Apple TV. If it drops lower than that before release then it's even better!
