The Dolce & Gabana of the audio scene. B&O makes fancy looking CD changers and other toys that the ultra rich often find irresistible. It's the snob appeal more, though you could argue, their industrial design and amazing shapes do make their products potential works of art.

They're like those fancy faucets that cost $1000 even though the water's the same. It's bizarre why they would do a hd dvd given the association with the $98 players and Venturer as their only other compatriot outside of Tosh.

They always had some fancy CES displays, back when I had to be in CES just about every year.

Their plans had been to make a combo player, now it's BD only. They never had plans for HD DVD only.

Although B&Os products is really expensive, its a pretty big brand in Europe and Asia, and I've seen MTVs Cribs, so I know that alot of American celebs owns B&O as well

Its no way near Pana, Sony, Pioneer etc. but its a totally different clientel. The people who buy Mercedes, BMW and Porsche in Europe, the Rich, and the wannabe-rich buy this for design (almost art) and showoff.

Their decision may not shift a whole lot in this "war", since they never really choosed side, but now the really really rich has to buy BD - and thats a plus.

well said.

the B&O clientele ain't regular folks, if you know what i mean.

these are the types of people that hire interior designers to deal with everything, and then send a flunky out to buy every movie they might potentially want to watch - and don't bother with the BOGOs.

Exactly. Speaking as an audiophile, B & O stuff is crap. Like Bose, their stuff is way over rated.

They put their effort and development largely into design. It's unfortunate that manufacturers of high quality a/v devices can't put a little effort into their designs as well. Not that black boxes aren't attractive things to have stacked in the living room.

I really liked their CD changers with the unique long and sleek design, which many other companies have imitated. B&O's blu-ray player will look awesome (also quality). I better save money for that from now on!

Exactly, Bose is overrated and I think they sound like crap. They can't even call it a subwoofer, because, well it isn't. They have to call it an 'Acoustimass Module.' Anyway back on point, B and O can keep their players. Hell, give me a Denon or Onkyo Blu Ray player anyday. They are far cheaper and are proven workhorses. I think another overpriced company is McIntosh.

The premium one is clearly the Onkyo.

Given that there were 17 or so made worldwide, I bet they would cost a pretty penny as a collectors item.
