Doubtful. It's owned by the world's richest man, who has made it pretty clear he wants to be taken seriously as a Hollywood player. He'll just sink more money into it, hire bigger stars. Just wait and see.

They can’t even get that (imo) dreadful interface sorted. I do t hold much faith in them keeping up with Disney and Netflix.

What's dreadful about it?

In any case, it sounds more like you just want them to fail b/c it doesn't live up to your expectations. Me? I'm pretty indifferent.

In my opinion it’s clunky, messy, slow and unclear. I dont own it but my girlfriend does.

I honestly prefer Amazon to Hulu or Netflix. I find the Netflix interface obnoxious where it keeps recommending shows to me I have no interest in watching, while the shows I'm currently watching often seem to become harder to find.

I think Amazon's probably gonna get a big boost soon with their Lord of the Rings show coming up, which seems to be gathering some hype already.

Yeah, that could be a big deal I guess.

Amazon's tvOS app is fine but the browser site is naff. Type in "walking dead" and it shows funny or die on the list before some of the actual seasons.

They need to dump all the Minecraft/funny or die type stuff.

Netflix keeps recommending stuff you don't like because they want you to watch it. The real problem is not what they are recommending - it is how often they are recommending it. The main page and each of the genre sections are just the same movies and shows listed over and over. I can't browse to find something to watch or to see what they really have - I have to search by name and hope they have it.

The problem with Amazon is how hard it is to actually browse stuff though. Unless you know close to what you're looking for already, it's a pain. Doesn't help that the to buy/rent stuff is mixed in with Prime. Looking for something new can be very tiresome.

Agreed. Instantwatcher helps me out with it. They list what is new by day. For Netflix, also.

I watch Amazon the most. I like British documentaries/series and they have had a lot of good ones. To find new stuff I just type in what I'm looking for and do the drop down to "Newest Arrivals".

On topic: Depending on the cost, I will probably get this service.

Default Things I'd like to see on the service

So here's an interesting article from CNET regarding Disney+.
https://www.cnet.com/how-to/disney-d...-fox-layoffs/#

I know it doesn't give too many new details, but it sounds like we'll only have to wait 3-4 more weeks to find out more at the April 11th investors meeting and at SW Celebration later that month.

Would love to see some of the following shows/movies on the service:
  • The Black Hole
  • Young Indy (not sure how this would work, as I believe Paramount still has distribution rights)
  • SW: Empire of Dreams
  • The (original) Muppets series (Disney only ever released 3 seasons on DVD)
  • One Strange Rock (National Geographic part of the Fox acquistion)
  • Ewoks made for TV movies
  • Droids animated series
  • Kundun (this probably has the same odds of happening as a snowball's chance in hell, I know, but one can hope!)
And finally is there any chance in hell they'll put the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special up there?

The Ewok movies are available to buy digitally on Amazon UK.

I didn't know that Disney didn't get distribution rights to the previous Indiana Jones. I'm very surprised George Lucas made that deal.

Is Disney+ confirmed as subscription only? Is there any change there would be the option to movies or shows too?

This would be great.

It would have to be live action and actually have the Ewoks the main characters and main heroes. Not a family or gang of humans living on Endor.

Humans (and even other races of the galaxy) would have to a very, very limited appearance - Ewoks vs. a gang of stranded stormtroopers after the Rebels have left, Luke and the droids return years later to help Wicket on a quest - but mainly Ewoks vs. creatures, nature, etc.

And it should be in the Ewok language. I'm undecided as to whether it should have subtitles.

I wouldn’t get your hopes up for Disney+. It looks like there could be huge delays with the Brexit situation. It might be a couple of years if we get it at all. Streaming services have to have 30% content from the EU. If we are out of the EU, different rules apply and Disney may have to play a long waiting game.

Can you tone down the melodrama?

What is this “getting my hopes up” business?

I asked if there was a chance that Disney+ might also sell content. I express no emotion like “hope”. It was just a question.

Your comment about Britain leaving the EU having an effect on the UK getting Disney+ makes no sense. Any EU rules about streaming services wouldn’t apply to the UK so it would not be an obstacle to Britain getting Disney+.

And what makes you think Britain leaving the EU has any impact on Disney+ coming to other EU countries? In particular my own country?

This might have been address before, sorry if it has...

I read somewhere that once Disney+ launches, there will be no more "vaulted" titles? If so, has it been said what will happen to those current vaulted titles for services like Vudu? Also, have they address what will happen with titles that have yet to be released digitally, or on disc? Will it support titles that are on other Disney+ owned networks, like Freeform?

My mistake, I bought you were from Northern Ireland. Just got my wires crossed.

The delay to Brexit will absolutely affect Britain though as far as Disney+ goes. It will be unclear for many many months if the U.K. has to make new legislation in regards to quotas of content. If we are not required to have 30% of EU content, we will be required to have 30% of British content and that’s not as straight forward as it seems. We will more than likely be the last to get it (if we get it at all)

Oh, and wind your neck in.

keep in mind, some titles (ie: song of the south, specific wartime cartoons) are still going to be unavailable on disney+.

You seem determined to create things to complain about.

You don’t know if Britain will have to make new legislation but in the next sentence you say they will have to. You are pulling percentages out of the air.

And it is ironic that you tell anyone else to “wind their neck in”. You are moaning and complaining about stuff that might never come to be.
