I'll be watching the comments on the forums closely regarding the playback issues and see if a possible firmware update from Sony may fix the alleged issue...or if indeed a disc replacement program happens in the future.

I never like to pay more than 10-14 euros per disc either so will be waiting for a price drop anyway so not in a rush

What were the playback issues on the UK 'Braveheart' 4K UHD release? Have they been fixed do you know?

The playback issue was that the first pressings didn't play on some machines, didn't even load. The OPPO was the main one, it got an update not long after which fixed it but Fox re-pressed the discs anyway I think? So any new buyers of the Fox should be fine.

OK. Thanks. My disc is pressed 2018 so hopefully no issues.

Should I buy the UK version? People in both threads mentioned that the colour is different to the US version- is this good or bad?

Geoff D: did you get your hands on the UK disc? I'd appreciate your thoughts.

I'd be interested in this as well. It's a film I've always meant to pick up but never got round to it. Apparently the death of the magistrate is seen differently in the US and UK versions as well.

I did. It's got a colour space error which oversaturates greens and reds and it doesn't have burned in subtitles for the French bits. Good encode tho, Fox's first 100GB disc IIRC.

Thanks for replying, Geoff. So, this means you prefer the US version? Or do you actually prefer this "error version"? The US disc is 100GB, too, no?

Is this the correct version to buy (please see link)?

I don't know about Geoff, but I went with the US version because of the colour space error. And yes, I believe the US disc is also a 100GB disc.

US release has Dobly Vision too. I do wonder whether I should obtain the US one again because my DV settings at the time were too dim and desaturated colour in particular, which made the already quite subdued HDR grade look dreadful (tho it didn't look much betterer in HDR10). The UK one is mos def wrong, but as the underlying grade is so dull it doesn't turn it into a StudioCanal-style teal monstering and it looks quite nice. (Ditto for the Paramount UHD of Watchmen which has the same error.)

Thank you, Azores26! Are you happy with the disc in general?

Yeah, it's probably the best the film will ever look on physical media (unless they release an 8K blu-ray format, which I think it's unlikely lol)

I have the UK disc and despite the error already mentioned in earlier replies to your post, I think it's otherwise pretty good and always enjoy watching it. I somehow ended up with 3 copies of the film on Blu-ray (which had more than decent picture quality) but this UHD is a clear improvement over those. I'd be interested to compare it to the US version though, so may well pick that up too soon, as I know it'll get watched often.
