I think that's a gross misunderstanding about Treadstone and John Wick.

With franchises such as these, there are always a large community of assassins in the network. It's just that they cannot all be revealed in the confines of a two hour movie or a season long television series. The reason there were a lot of assassins that crawled out of the network in John Wick was because John Wick became public enemy #1 in the eyes of those who ran the Continental.

If you also happened to watch any of the films in the Bourne trilogy (forget Legacy and Jason Bourne), you would know that there was a whole network of specially trained government agents/assassins who could be activated at any given time. That same scenario exists within the John Wick universe. There are simply a whole network of assassins and using an insane plot device, they were all activated to take down John Wick because of his crime on the grounds of The Continental.

They just didn't appear out of nowhere.

I just finished watching Treadstone on DVD (no Blu available) and I didn't think it was all that bad. The bummer is that it ended on a cliffhanger and the series has been cancelled. The multiple character arcs have all been left up in the air. I would love to see them do a two hour finale to tie things up but it appears that the show failed to catch on enough to warrant something like that.

This seems to be the pattern with the Bourne spin off storylines as we were also left hanging with the Legacy ending. I actually enjoyed Legacy and would have liked to have seen more of Aaron Cross. Even the somewhat feeble attempt to continue the original character's story, with the last Damon film, was more or less a bit of a misfire.

It wasn't surprising that it was canceled. USA is just one of those cable networks owned by Comcast. NBC, Universal, USA, SyFy, they are notorious for canceling TV shows they produce. It's one reason why I prefer waiting until a series is on home video before I'll watch it. Shows that end on Cliffhangers don't typically get a watch from me.
