Not surprised this is getting great reviews as I thought the director showed great promise with Childhood of a Leader.

As one of the few who really like Vox Lux (see my profile photo), I’m really excited! Everything I heard sounds like something I’ll live! Sad that Scott Walker died before he could score this movie.

A24 going a bit hell for leather with the acquisitions lately, looks like they’re gonna have a packed awards season between this, Queer, We Live in Time and Babygirl. Likely gonna be a couple casualties lost in the noise.

They can always give one or two movies a limited run in LA/NY in November/December to qualify for the Oscars, and not go wide with those until January/February.

I think only We Live in Time has a fixed released date?

After today's reviews it doesn't seem like We Live in Time is going to be an awards player. They'll probably go all in on The Brutalist, with Babygirl and Sing Sing campaigning for Lead Actors. Queer will probably be left out, which pains me to say.

Or they can screw up and not get anything, like last year with Dream Scenario, Priscilla and The Iron Claw.

Saw it tonight at Beyond Fest and Corbet's Director win at Venice was a well earned one, though, "The Room Next Door" unseen, not entirely sure why it didn't win the grand prize because this is one hell of a cinematic achievement that we likely won't see the likes of again for another decade. Easily the best film of the year and hopefully one that will win the gold next March.

It's also astounding to watch a film with a 6-10 million budget rival the looks of the recent contentious expensive releases ("Megalopolis" and "Joker") with some of the best cinematography of the decade.
