If you can't wait for Amazon to fulfill orders, Walmart still has it for that price and some stores around me have it in stock. I cancelled my order and picked it up at a nearby WM store.

Y'all know this is a BD-R, right? I only ask because I was rather startled to see that the underside of the disc is a telling shade of purple.
Maybe someone here knows: are they allowed to do this with the official blu-ray logo on the cover? 'Cause it's all over the packaging and even the discs themselves. EDIT: Thought this was the thread for season 2. Anyway, season 2 is BD-R. Last edited by balthazar_bee; 12-17-2019 at 06:22 PM. Reason: Whoops! |

That was my first though, because BD-R, and even pressed MOD, are supposed to only be sold online, not in retail stores. |

It was a vendor through/fulfilled by Amazon.ca (something called Season CA).
Does anyone own it and can confirm or refute whether your own is BD-R? Honestly, it didn't look like the package had been tampered with. Had a slipcover and everything (though the case was a pretty tight fit). |

Thanks folks. Ordinarily it wouldn't bother me too much, but the player I'm using right now won't even read BD-Rs, so someone's gonna pay.

Well, I sent back the first copy and ordered another one from another vendor.
Something's up here. This one's has a blue/purple underside as well. It also seems really cramped within the slipcover - like, I've never seen a case that's this badly matched to a slip. You've got to shove the sucker in and the plastic edge gets caught and tangled on the slip. Part of me thinks, Who cares? I know some people get really bent out of shape about BD-Rs, but for me it's just the mystery of it. Like, is Paramount's Canadian distributor saving money? Is there a batch of bootlegs floating around? (It seems a pretty improbable choice as a big money-maker for the black market.) |

It's the same colour as the Under the Silver (ironic!) Lake disc, which I believe is also BD-R.

What?! The data side of a pressed disc is silver, like a mirror. BD-R data layers are purplish or bluish. I’ve seen some yellow layer CD-Rs but where in the hell have you seen a disc (video games excepted) with a black layer?!

Really weird if you're getting BD-Rs of Yellowstone season 2 from multiple sellers. What are the odds you'd get bootlegs from two different sellers, why is anyone making bootlegs of this show, and why would they go to the trouble of also making slipcovers?

![]() Wikipedia even references the blue hue, so I don't think it's some oddity of my own vision... Yes they are reflective, like a mirror, but there's also clearly a color to them. BD-Rs have a black bottom: ![]() I have on occasion seen yellow-bottom BD-Rs, but the black-bottom ones are far more common. Besides color, the layer barcode / matrix runout is also a distinguishing factor. In the pressed Blu-ray picture, you can see the circular barcode / matrix info around the center of the disc. A BD-R lacks that feature. Last edited by neo_reloaded; 12-23-2019 at 05:18 PM. |

If it's a seller as in an individual person, it's possible they're getting the retail packaging and the seller is just removing the pressed discs and finding BD-Rs to trick people with. I got a bootleg Daria set years back off ebay and that's when I stared mostly buying from actual retail stores... maybe that's where balthazar_bee should try next.
