Yes! I'm shocked they're including the sequel, that's definitely very cool. Although, it comes across as if it's being thrown in as a bonus feature, considering it's not featured in the cover art. I wish they'd have presented it as a 2-disc double feature set, as the second film is definitely a marquee title that can stand on its own. Maybe throw in the remake as the bonus feature instead.

Posted on Facebook just now:

You asked...we got. Announcing original short film THE SITTER as a bonus feature on the WHEN A STRANGER CALLS / WHEN A STRANGER CALLS BACK LIMITED EDITION BOX SET. Huge thanks to director Fred Walton.

This is shaping up to be a fantastic release!

This is a region-B lock, so I'll be unable to get it, but I'll still chime in on what a great film this is. I'll also add that I never felt the film to be a "slasher" type picture. As a matter of fact...
[Show spoiler]there are no overt scenes of murder in the film. Can this be considered a "slasher" without anyone being slashed? I wouldn't think so. But I guess people can see things differently. However, I feel that to classify When a Stranger Calls with films that are known slashers (such as Friday the 13th, etc.) is to get the wrong idea. In my opinion, this movie is much more sophisticated than those types of films. And not to mention that I have never been a slasher film fan. But I do enjoy great thrillers.
Regardless, I do have this on Blu-ray as a double feature with an unrelated film. But I'd much rather have the movie with its sequel When a Stranger Calls Back. If my Blu-ray player were region free this would be a no-brainer.

Second Sight just sent me an email confirming that for “contractual reasons”, this release will indeed be locked to Region B.

UPDATE: see Second Sight Facebook page and some posts later in this thread. SS subsequently announced the due to popular demand, this release will now be Region Free.

Second Sight officially announced that a few days ago.

WHEN A STRANGER CALLS / WHEN A STRANGER CALLS BACK: LIMITED EDTION date change. Due to the last minute but very welcome addition of original short ‘The Sitter’, the release date will now be December 17th. Still in time for some scares over Christmas! We have restoration of the new scan underway at Final Frame and work on the main feature nearing completion.

We also have date changes for our release of THE BOYS IN THE BAND which moves to December 17th and WORLD ON A WIRE to January 21st.

Am I right in thinking ‘The Sitter’ short it just a edited version of the first film’s opening 20 mins?

Regardless, looking forward to this release.

I’m region B but I felt the same way when The Maze 3D was announced as locked to region A. It’s about time region coding disappeared. It has for 4K Blu-ray.

Don't recall ever watching this film. Is it worth a blind purchase for a horror fan like myself?

I agree about region coding. Can't fathom out why we still have it for general releases but not for 4K discs.....very odd.
