Didn't the filmmakers say it was originally conceived as a two movie arc and that they were originally shooting back to back?
https://ew.com/movies/2018/06/08/hal...e-two-sequels/ If so, makes PERFECT sense there's going to be another one. If the movie was supposed to be the ideal closure, [Show spoiler]

So ironic reading these people going "let it die!" when so many of these films have been total crap. Now they make a solid entry, it makes a bundle of money, and now it should end? What kind of business sense does that make?
Plus, nobody is forcing you to see it. Stay home, don't post -- there are ways to express your indifference, but so long as people go and pay to see it, there are always going to be sequels in this genre. It's how it has always worked. Last edited by DMRI2006; 10-25-2018 at 04:30 PM. |

I'm all for a sequel. As much as I loved Halloween 2018, I didn't feel there was any definitive closure to Laurie's story arc. That may be due to Green and McBride proposing to wrap up Laurie and The Shape's story with the second film that they were going to shoot back to back with Halloween 2018.
I think there's still a decent amount of material there for Laurie and The Shape that can be expanded upon. But I think the story needs to be strictly Laurie and Michael centric. Jettison the teen drama and needless supporting characters. Have Laurie operate under the assumption that The Shape is dead. Have her move on with the help of Karen and Allyson, reclaim her life and start to enjoy it after 40 years of emotional and mental suffering. Rebuild her home, free of traps, fire power, weapons and safe rooms, as there is no need for them. Lower her defenses to the point she is completely unprepared for The Shape's return. Make her even more vulnerable than she was in '78. Stack the odds against her so monumentally she and the audience feel so has no chance of survival. Of course I would have some returning characters from Halloween '78 offer her support. Sheriff Brackett, Tommy and Lindsey. Maybe even have a scenario where nurse Marion was working along Dr. Sartain at Smith's Grove feel remorse for not alerting Laurie about her suspicions regarding his obsession with Michael's evil. There's so many possibilities. Taper the humor, keep Michael more in the shadows and more "stalker mode" since he's "dead", pepper the score frequently with the classic "Laurie's Theme" and ratchet up Laurie's false sense of security. And James Jude Courtney must return as The Shape, Carpenter exec producing and composing the score. OK, I rambled enough with my two cents. Last edited by steev210; 10-25-2018 at 04:43 PM. |

It's weird. From what I was reading from the Wikipedia page it only mentioned that H20 retconned Halloween 4-6. No mention of having Season of the Witch non-canon even though as BladeRunner2007 says, it features an in movie trailer for Halloween.
