What's a double ear clap? Like just a slap across the ears? How is that cut?!

Mark has mentioned, in another post, that this may pass (additionally, perhaps BBFC guidelines have changed since), though it would probably require re-submission.

The cut was compulsory under those old guidelines, but the guidelines have since changed several times.

Neat.

I got lucky enough to get the R1 Fox release so don't really feel like upgrading this one. Going to wait for the better JC movies coming soon.

Zavvi have this at £9.99 (+.99p delivery) now.

Price might come down at other stores like Dragon Fist and TKWI did too but Zavvi is cheapest I've seen it currently.

It's not mentioned in this topic, but I just wanted to let people know that brand-new SDH was produced for the main feature (which is English).

I'm not familiar with Battle Creek Brawl or the other title coming from 88, Snake and Crane Arts of Shaolin. How do they stack up against the previous two films that 88 released?

Even if it's a weaker Jackie Chan flick, I have no issue throwing 20 dollars into the hat for 88 films on the hopes that we'll get more Kung Fu (of any stripe - Shaw, Jackie, Jet, random Golden Harvest, whatever) down the road.

Yikes, that screenshot looks absolutely horrendous, like some bizarrely DNR'd upscale that has also managed to get the geometry completely wrong.

I'm not sure the comparison is a fully representative one (not full resolution?).

All I did was take a snapshot and crop off the black bars before uploading.

Both images are jpegs.

I only took a quick look at the film but it does look very waxy in motion and poorly compressed.

I'm far from an expert so best wait for someone else to confirm or deny.

Yeah they're not original resolution. It's possible your software is applying some DNR Mark if your graphics card settings allow for it, and i've just noticed that you're using photobucket to host so the image has been compressed to buggery (54kb!) so that could account for the heavily DNR'd look. I recommend imgbb for image hosting, very simple and they don't compress the images.

One thing I do want to say: Constructive criticism is fine, but balancing it with positives (which I believe there are) would be nice, as I feel that hasn't always been the case so far with these titles.

I'll check the disc out on my UHD player later and see how it looks.

I don't normally do caps, but as no one else seemed to have the title I thought I'd give it a go.

I'm sure better comparisons are to come.

Shingster may be right. The fault may be on my end.

I can say the mono is genuine (if a little compressed).

Just had a quick flick through it. That sideways squish effect in Mark's second capture above is evident throughout. Very disappointing! I'm surprised this wasn't spotted during the disc's production. It should be recalled and corrected, really, although I won't hold my breath.

As for noise reduction, it has to be really bad for me to notice it (eg. Predator and Weird Science) so I'll just say that to my extremely untutored eyes I didn't notice anything amiss.

Still about 2 half weeks to release date, how come people are having the discs already? Review copies?

Anyways, bad news, again. Is it confirmed that Ritrovata has done the restorations for 88 JC films?

If you ordered from 88 Films. They started shipping earlier this week or late last week, can't quite remember.
