Just when I think the picture quality and so forth is perfect, it turns out it is not.

Hey guys hate to break it too you but Pioneer is way ahead of OLED. They're "pioneering" plasma tech at the moment.

This tv would like to say hello
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1Zb1...eature=related

Right off the bat they are already up to 50 inches and 9mm thick. It's only going to get bigger and thinner from there. OLED still hasn't broken 40 inches as far as I know. The most important feature though...
Absolute black!

You can throw contrast ratio out the window. Pioneer reached absolute black with this tv. As in no light escapes from the black portion of the screen.

For me this is the tv to own in the future. I'm guessing by now they already have a 60 inch version in the works. Will more then likely be ready in the next year or two...(Here's hoping) Anyway being from Pioneer it definitely won't be affordable.

I want one of these in 60" that would be sweet. But if they too expensive still I might just get a 60" Kuro in 10 years or how ever long it takes for them to come out.

That's their updated Kuro tech but i still think when OLED matures properly like Plasma has, that's when you'll see the benefits.

That models showing pretty much close to Plasma's final phase. OLED has such a long way to go

OLED = New born in market placement
Plasma = Pushing 40 but still going

once OLED has got past life span & production problems. You'll have 1-4mm 50" screen, that are close to perfect

Like a fine wine, time to mature & then breathe yields perfection

yeah, i actually just read somewhere that Pioneer is slowing down monitor production altogether... and eventually getting out of the market completely, and going to solely produce audio components.

i'll find the link.........

Over kill I think I don't think that any one will be able to tell that it is 1,000,000:1 but atleast there getting deep blacks. I have a CRT and right now they have the highest black level of any TV, does CRT still have a better black level or am I out to lunch.

If I had to buy a TV now it would be a battle of Pioneer's Kuro and Sony's SXRD.

i'm about to probably give a total noob response here, and I didn't do any sort of research or checking ALL the posts......
but I've been fooled before about this 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio and when I did research about it, it ended up being 1 million:1 dynamic contrast ratio which is totally different from one's native contrast ratio.
That isn't the case here is it?

This TV can actually produce a real, true black because it has the ability to completely shut off light to each individual pixel, while the very next pixel can produce a pretty true white. That is what makes the contrast ratio actually
1 mil:1, The LCD's that claim 1 mil:1 rate the black when the TV is turned off (I believe) because that is the closest to black it can make. The blacks on an LCD can only get so dark because a light illuminates the LCD panel, meaning when its trying to produce black, light shines through it and produces gray. LED LCDs can get closer to black, but still not as good as plasmas, or OLED

In addition, high R&D costs are a factor on OLED for a while.

I have a 60" SXRD A3000 and love it. I'm hoping by the time I need to replace this set, a similarly sized or larger OLED will be available at a reasonable price.
