I wonder if Indicator or some other company will release this in the UK.

Like the movie; don't like Twilight Time. I'm sure I'll be able to import it from elsewhere.

Saw this film recently for the first time in a digital HD version, and I was surprised at how good it was. This is definitely one of Oliver's best films, and one of the best of the late 80's. The print also looked good.

Pre-order date: February 6, 2019, at 4 pm EST

Where to buy (or pre-order):
Quote:
Eric Bogosian stars in writer-director Oliver Stone’s adaptation of his play, Talk Radio (1988), as a venomous radio talk show host whose reckless, relentless stream of abuse and sarcasm both titillates and infuriates. Parading his own “honesty,” Bogosian’s shock jock grows increasingly bitter, his outrageous cynicism both an emblem of his self-loathing and a temptation to his more disturbed listeners.

I bought the digital download for this weeks back and it looks like crap.

I don’t like TT, but it looks like I will have to buy this release.

Ooo. You just threw a spanner in the works, Spectre. I was all ready to pre-order the TT

I would hazard a guess at Eureka since they recently put out Salvador. May hold fire for a bit then and see how this shakes out.

It’ll most likely be Arrow. Eureka haven’t released a Universal title in awhile (somebody, correct me if I’m wrong) and I believe Arrow currently has a Universal deal.

Ah, didn't realise Talk Radio was Universal. The DVD I have was released by Network in the UK.

Actually, Eureka just released Yanks not too long ago, which is a Universal title.

I had thought about that but “Yanks” was licensed through MGM as United Artists originally released it in the UK. The packaging does mention Universal for copyright but it also states “Licensed from MGM and 20th Century Fox”.

This was a really cool movie. Glad to see it getting at least one BD release. I wish there was something from Bogosian in the extras - despite Stone directing, this was really his baby. I'd love some footage from his play. The Stewart Copeland score is terrific too.

That's exactly what I was hoping for. Any interview or commentary with Oliver Stone is always fascinating and much appreciated but Bogosian is who I truly wanted to hear from. No matter though - I've waited nearly a decade for an HD release and it's finally coming. Beggars can't be choosers

I remember seeing this loads on rental trailers when I was a kid, but as I was about 10-13 this title didn’t appeal, but the trailer stuck and I’ve always been curious to see it. Not seen it cheap enough on dvd to give a go whenever it’s popped into my thoughts.

Once I heard this has a BD release I thought day one and have checked to see the preorder date. It’ll be very expensive to blind buy import, but I’m curious enough to pay the money.

Now seeing a UK release is probable, I may hold off. But I’d only hold off if the uk release is definitely happening and happening soon.
I went with TT for The Blob (88) even though people where suggesting it’ll be released by someone like Arrow. I wanted that enough to not wait and I’m glad I did.
And although I could have waited for Vampires and Black Widow, I’m glad I didn’t as neither have had such a superior UK release and both took about 8months or more.

I’m going for the TT as I’d rather not miss out or wait a year, longer or even find out that although maybe Arrow has this they don’t end up releasing it for whatever reason. It’ll be twice the UK price I’m guessing to get a copy but there’s nothing certain UK will get a release.
Anyone know for sure one will happen? When maybe?

Going to be trading my copy of the DVD into CEX it seems!

The film was made by Cineplex Odeon - also responsible for The Grifters but that ended up shifting to Miramax for distribution - which folded into Alliance Atlantis (which the UK DVD was licensed from) - better known now as Alliance, Momentum and more recently EOne which is distributing just about everything (including some pretty big films) in the UK market now. Looking at Wikipedia Universal co-funded a number of Cineplex Odeon films - including this and The Last Temptation of Christ. Will be nice to see a HD release of this because the DVD master is getting up there in years.

This film is incredibly relevant in 2019 (and it was last year when I watched it!) so glad to see this rereleased.

My guess would be not within the next six months. So if you’re desperate to see the movie, the TT is the way to go. If you can wait, it’s probably worth waiting, but if not, don’t.
