Can you all give some examples of particular Sony titles that look as impressive as you are describing. I just upgraded to the format and I’d like to see what some reference content looks like. So far I’ve watched a few minutes of Star Wars the Last Jedi and MI:Fallout. I also watched the Hitmans Bodygaurd but that movie used odd camera filters and lots of lens flare.

The Patriot and Ghostbusters II are my favorite, buyer they’re all pretty much perfect (except The Fifth Element, and that wasn’t their fault).

Pretty telling that we all seem to have different favorites. That’s just how good they are.

Of the 251-discs I own, it's my favorite of all of them.

Not just because of how good it looks--but it's also a great film. One of the few Hollywood films to get the military/spec ops stuff right. And it's also just a breathtakingly gorgeous film, based on Greig Fraser's cinematography alone.

Factor in the BD-100, full-screen aspect ratio, and the fact that it's a Sony disc, and I just can't see how you beat it out.

Adding to list:

Bad Boys II (grading-related black crush aside)
Blade Runner 2049 (European version)
Sicario: Day of the Soldado (despite being one of their few upscaled titles)

Just finished Venom and it looked great! Very clean looking disk with awesome use of Dolby vision! Don’t hit it out of the park again!

I would love to get both Heat and Speed from Fox this year.

But I think what does make Sony so great is, they give every title, new or old, the same treatment. That’s pretty impressive. The fact that a film like Air Force One looks substantially better than something like Grease or Jurassic Park, is absolutely insane.
Couldn’t agree more on ALL points (especially on such half-hearted treatment on beloved classics like JP and Grease, which is really sad).

But isn’t Heat a Warner release?

Anyhoo, as to why Sony's stuff looks so good, it's because they lace the discs with angel dust: as soon as you touch the disc to put it in the player, you trippin'...
Angel Dust makes sense and I would think they have access to the good stuff

While I think MI Fallout looks good, I still believe (maybe I’m being naive) that had Sony done it...it would have looked even better. I watched The Shallows for the first time the other night and it was almost distracting how good the picture looked!

There were certain long/far away city shots in MI Fallout where I expected a bit more detail...because I see that level of detail in almost every Sony title I’ve viewed on the format.

Looking at the 4K T2 disc is a stark reminder of how great it “could have” looked.

I look forward to the next (326th) remaster😁

Two of the more under-appreciated Sony discs are Inferno and Amazing Spider-Man 2. Lots of insanely great detail and colors in those transfers.

But for real, I wish they could give it to Sony to do a proper UHD...

Good lord. I would be ecstatic if those two films got UHD releases.

A Few Good Men is a stellar example of 35mm anamorphic from an ultra high resolution scan of the negatives. It looks better than it did at any movie theater outside of a studio screening room. They even remixed it in Dolby Atmos.

You can't handle the 4k!
