I still need to pick up Jungle Holocaust and Slave of the Cannibal God's recent releases so the order may still change as I plan to have another marathon once I've picked up those 2 releases (while also including "The Man from Deep River" which missed the last marathon as well) but at the same time I wouldn't be shocked to see it stay firmly planted in the 3rd position as well.
I enjoy Slave of the Cannibal God. It’s still disturbing (especially if you happen to be a pig), but the rampant misogyny of many other such films of this genre is not prevalent, and it’s more of an adventure movie.

Jungle Holocaust is on its way to me in the mail.

I still find it commendable that Roth got the movie made and released the way it was. How many (horror) directors can say they made a Cannibal movie? How many are even willing to go there?

I hope Green Inferno will at least encourage those who watch it to seek out the Cannibal movies, it's a genre that's exists mainly in the 70s to die in the 80s and it remains ever a weird recipe of cinema.

I'm surprised actually Tarantino and Rodriguez didn't tackle it given their sampling of 70s cinema.

I agree completely. Somewhere on this board I commented at the time of this films release that I was hopeful it would lead to a mini resurgence in the cannibal subgenre and we'd see additional films. That didn't happen, but I still give a lot of credit to Roth for releasing this film as if nothing else it has encouraged folks to look for other films like it which should only increase exposure of the older films.

Now that you mentioned it, it is also a bit surprising that Tarantino and Rodriguez didn't look into making their own entries. Tarantino certainly could have gotten away with just about anything he wanted to in a cannibal film (though I suspect a Rodriquez film would better suit my personal preferences).

This release basically confirms why I'm not going to pick "Upgrade" up anytime soon. The current release, A/V quality aside, is basically an expensive coaster. If something as divisive as "The Green Inferno" (an underrated film in Roth's filmography) can get a Collector's Edition release from them, then "Upgrade" certainly will in the next few years.

Ordered the signed copy the moment it went up for sale and excited to see it's being released on my birthday.

The full set of extras haven’t been announced yet, but if the only thing this new version will have is one new special feature, then it’s not even worth it. The current Blu-ray looks fine right now. I can’t imagine it looking any better.

Why does Universal even bother releasing their own Blu-rays anymore? I didn’t think this movie would get a Shout Factory release anytime soon because it was too new.

From Scream's FB

***THE GREEN INFERNO Update***

Sorry guys but we unexpectedly have to delay the release of Eli Roth's THE GREEN INFERNO just a little longer. Original release date was this month on April 23rd. New (and final) date is now June 25th.

Thanks for your understanding.

People were sent discs to review and they found problems. Good on shout for taking initiative and fixing it.

This arrived today. Solid hour-long interview with Roth and 35 minutes of cast interviews. I watched the movie and no issues. Anyone notice glitches on their disc?

Where'd you order from? This has officially been delayed until June 25th so I can't imagine that there are too many copies floating around at the moment. Mostly just review copies.

I pre-ordered mine from Amazon and the order itself still shows an April 25 delivery by date, but the listing itself just is saying unavailable now. I figure Amazon will most likely send me an Email within the next couple of days confirming what we already know, that it got pushed back.

If you're wondering why this got delayed, I found the answer tonight from someone who knows why:

"Review copies were found to have playback glitches."

TCM has cannibals as the antagonists but we never see them consuming human flesh. Parents was a black comedy.

Mine shipped yesterday and set to arrive tomorrow, per Amazon. Not sure what to expect as far as "glitches." The SF Facebook post doesn't give much detail at all.
