I think this will go past that WWF win and well into the Hulkamania era. The obvious end points imo are Hogan vs Andre at Wrestlemania III which for good reason is one of the most iconic matches in the history of wrestling, or Hogan vs Ultimate Warrior at Wrestlemania VI when he put the business ahead of himself and passed the torch on. I think either of those would be good ways to close a biopic that focuses on Hogan's prime years.

I just wonder if they will also depict his past racist comments and involvement with Peter Thiel. Tell the whole story. Leaving that out would have been like Walk the Line without mentioning addiction and adultery.

They've already said they will not be covering his whole life or later years.

The last thing they wanna do is rely on Hulk Hogan to give them the details of his life, he's probably the most notoriously "sketchy" recallers in the business!

I'm in. Even though I never liked entertainment wrestling, my brother did and I had access to VHS and magazines that he owned. I like reading the magazines, with exaggerated stories about clashes between them. Hulk Hogan was the favorite, followed by Ultimate Warrior and Andre the Giant.

I have no problems with Chris Hemsworth, I think he's a good choice to play Hogan in the early days.

Yes "focus on the rise" and "origin story", we can all read here, but we all also should have enough experience with the film industry to know that early announcements like these are not set in concrete unless the script has already been locked in - especially when we're talking about biopics. I see no reason why a biopic focusing on the rise of Hulkamania can't end with Wrestlemania III though, that was the last echelon Hulk had to reach and his ascension was only complete after that night.

What I wanna know is this: Can Dan Soder bulk up enough to play the Macho Man?

How can you say "definitely" when there is zero indication? Macho Man was no part of the rise of Hulkamania. Unless we're getting Hogan facts, which would likely show him training Macho Man in wrestling and introducing him to his wife. I'm sure Hulk had to put his time into that so he could get over the death of 8 foot tall Andre the Giant. If only he hadn't slammed that 600 pound monster...

The REAL question we should be asking is: who is going to play Mr. T?

Was it really all Hogan though? I thought the fights are choreographed.

Mr. T, well maybe that guy from The A-Team. But he can't really act though.

I hear u all but at least Macho Man Randy Savage, Ric Flair, Andre the Giant, Brutus (his tag team partner), Ultimate Warrior and Rowdy Roddy Piper need to appear. They cant change that much or it will suck balls at least for me that use to watch WWF in the late 80s and early 90s and also the cartoons. Piper wasnt a great champion but was his nemesis in the cartoons. In WWF he had many nemesis like the Million Dollar Man Teddy DiBiase (also in cartoons) and Ricky Steambot also plays a big part. Ofc HBK and Bret Hart are mid 90s so im ok if they dont go there or NWO. But i will miss the NWO music intro with Diesel and Razor Ramon (aka as Kevin Nash and Scott Hall in NWO-WCW). Oh boy how do i miss those times. They did it so damn well compared to todays crap.

I also hope they cover his hollywood acting career attempt, specially when he played himself in Rocky III. It would be great to know the BTS of that scene. And also his reality show. Strong material. It would give a great TV Series. haha

OK "most likely" considering that Randy was one of Hogan's most iconic opponents and they first fought in late 1985 so even IF they end the film before 1985 (which I don't think for one second they will), the chances of getting a Macho Man cameo at the very least are pretty damn high because they won't have to fudge the facts much at all to wedge him in there.

Not choereographed, they didn't really plan out and rehearse matches, rasslin' is more like Athelitic Jazz in that they have the training, they know the finish, and they improvise and play off each other in the ring by laying out the match to each other in the moment. At least I think that was mostly how Hogan operated, there are wrestlers who like to plan a match out beforehand and sort of go over it with their opponents beforehand, but most wrestlers preferred to figure it out in the ring.

They don't suck, they're just lower budget.

Netflix movies are the scum of the earth. They're not bad, they're not good, they're just very boring and forgettable. The worst kind of movie.

From my observation, Netflix gives full creative control to the filmmakers. They’re like independent financer that just own the rights. Because they finance a great number of films for the sake of content, many filmmakers, good or bad get to make their films that they couldn’t before. Personally I’m beginning to appreciate it, there’s quite a number of good films which could never have been greenlighted by major studios. I just wish many of the get to be released on blu-ray.
