George A Romero's Diary of the Dead

Pretty sure George was not really happy with how Land of the Dead turned out because of lack of control. I read this new one is independant and he has full/more control than before so it should be better than Land.

I respect Romero, but his films are just not scary.

I enjoy scary zombie flicks, not zombie flicks telling me America is bad.

His gore is always the best, I just wish he'd concentrate more on trying to scare me, than educate me with his ideology.

Fast, running zombies(Dawn remake)=scary.

Slow zombies with political messages in the background=not so much.

Not trying to upset anyone, like I said, I respect the man, and no one can touch his gore, he just doesn't scare me.

Sweet! It does not look shaky like Cloverfield at all! But dammit George you took my idea! I was in the writing a script for a zombie movie from a camera perspective! now what!

Did you like Bruiser? I thought that one was terrible. Anyhow. Has anyone read the script for The Diamond Dead? I read it a couple years back, there was even a website for it. The thing is, it was going to be a musical comedy. Yes, a musical with music from the guy who did the Rocky Horror Picture Show. But it looks like it will never get made now. The website has vanished and so have the scripst. Can't find them anywhere on the internet now.
(this is kind of rough and I could be wrong on some points)
The basic story is about a failed Heavy Metal band who accidentally get killed in the collapse of the warehouse in which the pratice. One of their groupies is there to see it happend and when death appears to collect their souls.. The groupie makes a deal with death and takes over for death so he can take a vacation. She brings them back to life with death's scythe and they rocket to stardom. Everyone just thinks that they are playing at the undead zombie thing as part of their act. No, I don't think they eat anyone, but I could be wrong. In the finale, you learn that the girl who took over for death has to reap so many souls before death comes to reclaim his scythe and she ends up taking out everyone at the Diamond Dead's last concert.

I really would have like to have seen what George Romero would have done with this. It could have been another cult favorite. I guess we will never know.

Romero left the project because he was'nt happy with lack of control & they wanted to have the film R rated. You can't have a Zombie film without gore But Mr Paul anderson disagreed & thats why we ended up with that pile of shite Teen friendly RE.

Fairly certain I remember reading somewhere on this site that its a Region B release, and thus not region free.. in another thread somewhere -_-V

I read somewhere here that the previous BD releases by the company that is distributing DOTD have been region free.
