I am sure WB Shop did the same with the Animated Batman boxset and didn’t ship until the release date or even later same as everyone else. Check that thread. They are linked to Entertainment Store on eBay and seem to share shipping.

Picked this up in HMV today, reduced to £19.99 from £34.99. Cheapest I've seen it.

Awesome! Been waiting for a price drop on this. Almost picked it up at £25 on Amazon last week but held off. Hopefully Amazon or Zoom (whose sales start tonight) will price-match — no HMV’s nearby and last I checked my local Fopp didn’t have stock

According to Amazon reviews, they use the heavily altered opening titles; there are just two discs for many hours worth of content, and worst of all, the audio on the Josie and the Pussycats episode is out of synch and a few episodes are missing scenes, up to 90 seconds worth per show.
I’d like this set, but these things put me off, more so than the Adams Family episode being omitted (John Astin holding out for more money, apparently). Last edited by RossyG; 06-30-2019 at 08:25 AM. |

Got the set today. 2 discs for £30 is a bit of a ripoff really.
While I can understand the problems of not releasing the Addams Family episode which I shall now have to keep my Boomerang dvd of I think its a bit poor not to have used the original titles. If the reason for skipping the episode was down to clearances of the voice artists then there's no reason not to include Addams in the visuals. It does spoil it a bit as its every single episode. But I think it more likely that Warner simply couldn't get clearances for using any Addams imagery at all. Unlike British tv US tv rather famously back in those days never paid residuals for reruns beyond a certain date so I would expect that while the owner of the Addams Family could make demands regarding home video I doubt the voice artistes can. I'd expect the well known voices from the original show would have tried to include residuals they never originally got from the earlier shows when asked to do voices for some of the later series. |

There are various extras/trailers on the BBFC website that have been passed today for "SCOOBY DOO WHERE ARE YOU - 50TH ANNIVERSARY (2019)" so I'm guessing that this means we are getting the early stuff too... at some point... maybe?
EDIT: Just had a better look and one of them is the "A Scooby-Doo for Everyone" extra that's on the US set so I'd say that it was pretty much a dead cert now. |
