My first viewing is in stark contrast to yours. It was on a CRT console television with big built in speakers and good sound but a failing picture tube making the image having a blue hue. Of course it was the shortened pan and scan version. I honestly don't remember much of that viewing.

Fathom is doing us a favor by allowing us an opportunity to see these films in a theatrical setting. How many of our movies viewings, in theaters or at home, are ideal? Probably next to none. I’d rather take advantage of the opportunity that may be once in a lifetime.

I saw this film in the theater for the first time last night. Sadly, it was a 7:00 show. IMDb lists this film at 3hrs. 38mins. With opening special feature, intermission, and musical intro before the film starts and rejoins, it ended just after 11:00. Even with coffee and a snack, I regret to admit I missed the last half hour of the film almost entirely by passing out.

I considered picking up the 4K so that I could see the conclusion and know how it all ends but noted Sony released only a steelbook. Speaking of less than ideal. Looks like I have to settle for a 2012 Blu-ray instead. At least I’ll save half the price. I refuse to be roped into the exclusive steelbook releases. I don’t like them. I don’t want them.

I caught the later showing (6:40 PM) as well and my eyelids were getting heavy towards the end. I only had a few hours sleep the night before on top of already being sleep deprived but I stayed awake for the whole presentation. I wanted to watch it a second time the next day but I had to work that day. I'm sorry you had to miss the last half hour of the movie.

I agree with you about Fathom Events. I had way more better experiences than not so good experiences with them and I am grateful that they give us an opportunity to watch older movies in the theatres on the big screen. It's such a treat to see these the way they were originally presented!

I’m sorry it happened, as well. Made me feel like the entire investment was a waste because I didn’t get to see how the adventure ended. Makes me sad. I tried so hard to stay awake with coffee and popcorn.
