GAAAHHHH!!!! MATH!!! It hurrrrrrttttssssss! It hurtsssssssssss!!!

Good point. I tend to devote the time required to fully watch a movie when I sit down. If I don't have the time to watch it, I do something else usually. The only exceptions are for long movies like "Gone with the Wind" where something might come up throughout the course of the film and I have to turn it off for a while.

I've found it depends on the movie with the PS3. I've had some bookmark and some not. I can't, however, remember if the ones that bookmarked were left in the PS3 or if I took them out.

#2. Doesn't anybody ever sit down to watch a whole movie these days? How often do people sit down with the sole intention of watching 1/3 of a film today, 1/4 in 3 days, and the other 2/5 some unforseen duration down the road? Even stranger is the comments that I've heard in the past about people watching part of one film, then part of another, then another, then a fourth, maybe even a fifth, then coming back to the first?!?!?! What the hell?

Films are made to be watched in their entirety, from beginning to end, in one sitting. I find that splitting a film into two viewings detrimentally takes away from the enjoyment of the experience. Hence the reason that I say, to hell with resuming playback. It's a problem that already has a quick and simple solution (see #1). There are so many other things for manufacturers to deal with in getting these players optimized that this topic is rather pointless.

I knew that humanity was getting lazy, but is that extra 10 seconds really that much of an inconvenience? It seems as though 10 seconds takes up a large percentage of the 24 hours alotted to every day.
First off, the simple answer would be to say 'this feature is needed for one reason: TV shows' LOST has a 'Season Play' feature that is rather awesome and can continue mid scene whenever you stop and start an episode again (I had the power go out, only to boot up the home theatre again and have this feature revealed). Since TV shows on DVD were a big seller on DVD, this feature, for the TV show watching community would benefit for just them alone.

Secondly, if you're going to talk about the purity of cinema and watching a film in it's entire length, then we should talk about home theaters. I mean, no director ever shoots a film and says "I can't wait until my friends can watch this at home!". People say that there are distractions at the movie theatre but I see these same people multi-task while watching a film at home. They pause the movie, they themselves crunch popcorn and chips while I'm deafened by the noise emitted from their mouth. Bathroom breaks (which many claim is why they love watching DVD and movies at home... would go out the window).

Someone who has the decency to pause, stop or watch a film later in the day when they're less busy, less tired and more in the mood for a movie watching experience is doing far less of an injustice than many others out there. The suspension of disbelief in a film can be turned on and off rather quickly. We've all grown accustomed to cinema conventions

And yes, I do agree that watching a film from beginning to end is a BETTER option than pausing. However, even though the history of cinema is barely 110 years old, there's so much content that's available for viewing now (and this is just shuffling the good stuff from the great stuff) that there's not enough time in the day to sit and block out everything for a solid 90-180 minutes (not for my lack of trying).

Is it safe to assume you don't have kids?

The problem with movies like POTC1-3 is that if you push stop on accident instead of pause, then you have to go thru ALL the trailers ALL OVER AGAIN. I wish it would just start at the menu for pete's sake.
