What does IMAX Enhanced indicate in this case is better than a regular release with HDR and DTS:X? Or is it just a fancy name that actually means nothing?

Oh no, not another one.
Means DTS:X and no Dolby Atmos, like Angry Birds 2. |

A fully realized (non locked) Dolby Atmos encode can discretely address up to a 24.1.10 layout and is fully scalable. |

honestly I wish another territory would release a UHD without the IMAX and DTS-X bells and whistles and just release it in Dolby Atmos.

Does this mean there is a difference between the formats only in layouts with more than 7.1.4 channels?

I just want to say I personally prefer the IMAX Enhanced over ATMOS because the IMAX Enhanced actually uses the theatre mix other than ATMOS. The IMAX has better sound from your surrounds and overheads.
In terms of ATMOS being able to go to 24.1.10 please tell me a how many of you actually have that? |

If you have 7.1.4 and will go no further then it doesn't matter. However, many of us in the immersive audio listener crowd would like to go with a somewhat or much larger system than that. 9.1.6 and greater Atmos pre-amps are starting to come down in price to where mere mortals can start purchasing them. |

There are more who would love to go to 9.1.6 or greater now that pre-amp/processors are starting to drop in price that can handle better Atmos rendering given improved DSP chipsets that can bring the manufacturing costs down. If IMAX Enhanced audio was so great, tell me, why do they have to artificially goose the LFE output on the IMAX certified receiver or pre-amp side of things? A lot of people have complained of the automatic change in cross-over settings and the jacking up of the output when IMAX Enhanced mode is triggered. You have to go in and manually defeat it. That is a PITA. |

Nothing like competition.. I can't find any details of this getting a DMR imax release at all. I would rather have one of their ratio change Spider-Man films Last edited by Agent Kay; 11-26-2019 at 08:33 AM. |
