I don't look at it so much as a 'Blu vs DVD smack down fight' so much as a get the word out to consumers with HD equipment what they could be getting out of Blu-Ray.
To me, the best way to do that is word-of-mouth. I've converted 3 friends to HD media just by having them come over to my house and watch a BD disc on my projector.

Very True, I was thinking the same thing. Once the final studios go blu, the need for an outlet will greatly decrease. I hope the owners of the site are thinking of a new way to reinvent it.

Blu will always target DVD because it's just that much more share they are losing...

by 2011 we'll see BD players at prices where it will dominate households and we'll see people walk into stores asking for DVD and having the salesperson explain that it has been phased out unless you want a dual player...

I don't deny that they will continue to compete. My point is that we have to create "flyers" to spread the word? We don't need to fight this battle. We buy blu movies and when appropriate we let our friends know the difference. THats how the word is spread.

The fact that somebody on here had to send out a email "informing" everyone that the war was over, etc is just about silly.

If these same people put the same passion into politics we wouldn't have poverty, bad economy, or troops in places that we don't need them in.

A flyer is just an easy way to send info to friends by e-mail and I thought he did a good job with it. If you don't like it or want to do it, fine, don't print it out or forward it to anyone. Nobody here is trying to force you to do it so I'm not sure why you have a problem with it.

I know you think my flyer is stupid, and I'm sorry.
I do buy Blu movies and I do tell everyone I know how cool Blu-Ray is.
I'm also fairly passionate about politics.
I simply wanted to do something nice and create a little supplementary piece in case anyone wanted it (there have been people who have asked for such a thing on here), plus I was bored.

Hey Spider, nice work. I have been telling all my friends about Blu-Ray. I always have to answer the same questions about Studios and hardware manufacturer. This great, I'll simply send them this... Great job man

You know what. I'll e-mail this to all my info thursty friends and I'll ad a simple note: all HD has left for studios are Universal and Paramount/Dreamworks and Toshiba/Venturer for hardware. That is a hell of a summary for someone who wonders which side to jump into don't you think?????

Hey I have to apologize for my last post Spider, I'm not completely awake yet and somehow as I was reading the replies to your post they somehow got mixed together in my head. I re-read your original post and noticed that you're not attempting to defeat SD-DVD at all. That being said...GREAT flier and I will post it on my MySpace(not that that'll help since everyone on there only cares about "Who's hot")but I'll also show it around.
And once again I do apologize and it is a beautiful flier

Edit/ ok I figured out how to delete my prev ignorant comment so it's gone bye bye
and thank you again for the good work
Me thinks me might even post it on me wall....GO BLU

Exactly!
I'm glad some of you understand my intention.
If I recall, at CES the Blu-ray forum kind of said the focus of Blu-ray's marketing would now shift from being about who's better, Blu or HD DVD, and instead why you should choose Blu-ray over standard DVD.
Thats ALL I was trying to do with this flyer. Not some silly crusade or flyer handing-out-rally. Just wanted a nice little piece of paper/e-mail which could kind of sum up the benefits of Blu-ray.
I actually had someone in my office today who I've been trying to convince to go Blu come in and tell me he got my flyer, and he's decided to go for it since he wants to put his new HDTV to good use. I'm not saying the flyer single handidly did anything, but it planted the seed back in the front of his mind and maybe helped us get another Blu supporter.

I think the promotional piece is excellent, but shouldn't MGM also be in the studio logo section? MGM's certainly an important studio in the efforts.

You're right. I'll have to tweak it a little maybe when I get home. I also was going to add Anchor Bay, and a few other minors, but couldn't find decent logos, plus I was doing this at 3am and may not have been functioning at peak efficiency

P.S., Is your username referencing the timeship relativity from star trek?

It's all right. You might not want to oversaturate the logo section with names that few people know of, but a good balance would work excellently.

Something tells me that this will work incredibly well. I think that more of these should be made in the future. I have Photoshop and Illustrator experience, but don't have access to the software at the moment.

And yes, my username is that of the Federation Timeship Relativity.

Just wanted to let anyone know who wanted to use this, I have updated the web version and the print version to include MGM, and I lowercased the R's in 'Ray'

Very nice. I have encouraged 3 people to buy blu in the last month. I still have more on my list. This will help out nicely.

This is sweet Spider! Just reading the flyer you created alone would totally get me excited to own a Blu-ray player if I didn't already have one. Actually, it still makes me excited to have one!
I love the picture reference. I was caught talking about Blu-ray on Saturday and one of my friends asked, "is it really that much better?"
I honestly stated, "it really depends on the movie," but this is great reference material that I could give out to those interested who don't own a Blu-ray player yet. Thanks!

I agree. It's inevitable that people will go for the higher quality. Really for me all it took was a HDTV and I wanted to use my tv to its full capacity. Only way to do that with movies is Blu-ray. To me, HDTVs will do the job.

Wow you are so wrong it's not even funny. That like saying there is no reason vhs and dvd's can co-exist.

The whole reason Blu-Ray was creates as well as that other format was to replace dvd's not to co-exist.
