Red Heat and Universal Soldier also have 5.1 mixes only (original 4.0 tracks are not included).
Not all late CDS mixes are 4.0.
Are you sure that Universal was?

It is? I could've sworn that it's the legit OG mix.

I think Predator 2 is the same 5.1 mix that's on all previous home video releases which is the 70mm mix.

It's weird that Fox didn't include the stereo mix, considering that they included the 4.1 mix of the first film.

Are their DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 tracks 100% original theatrical mixes?

Fog was mono but the 2.0 on the new SC editions is blatantly a stereo surround Lt/Rt mix. It's also got the same incorrect pitch as the 5.1 (everyone sounds a bit squeakier).

I couldn't give a flying @#$& about original audio.

Thats probably the most boring complaint about catalogue disc releases.

I don't want 2.0 or 4.0 or whatever it was in the 70s or 80s . If an older movie get remastered in Atmos or DTS X then thats a big bonus for me because I've probably experienced the older audio in previous releases so if I get a spanking new audio then I get a fresh new experience. If it's made by the original people or has their blessing then I'm all for it too.

And people bleating about no Atmos no sale is easily the second most boring complaint about catalogue disc releases.

I have yet to hear a remix which actually sounds better. Can’t think of one.

Doesn't the Scream disc have the mono mix?

Yes. The 5.1 mix on Predator 2 has a mono surround signal. That was how it played in 70mm and in 35mm LCRS Dolby Stereo. The UHD is faithful to the original mix.

Thought so. It's been a while since I've watched the disc but I do remember the mono track sounding quite different from the 5.1 track.

Scream actually didn't include a downmix for once!

And in that case it's the reverse when it comes to EFNY, as the Shout does indeed have a 2.0 downmix while the StudioCanal has the proper 2.0 original! lolz

This is what the IMDb says:

"CDS (digital 35 mm prints) | Dolby Stereo (analog 35 mm prints) (4 channels) | DTS (5.1)"

They don't specify the number of channels for the CDS mix. I just assumed that because the Dolby Stereo was 4.0 the CDS would be too. Probably a wrong assumption.

The end credits, however, don't even mention CDS, only Dolby Stereo SR. Was this ever shown with digital sound?

The DTS mix was obviously after the fact and really shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath.

Figured as much. I would still class the 35mm's 4.0 stereo soundtrack as the original, as that's how the vast majority of audiences would have seen it, and not via 70mm blow-ups. No reason not include both though.

EDIT: Just seen Notops' post. "5.1" = 4.1. I stand corrected.

Yep. It's always hard to reconcile the fact that the people in charge of these discs care more about up-to-date tech than they do the films themselves. They are not us. We are not them.
