I wonder if they are testing the waters for the series.

Shockingly, there were only 2 seasons of the series with a whopping 38 episodes in the first season.

I can not for the life of me why they haven't released the 2 seasons on Blu-ray. The Munsters was one of the Classic TV series that was perpetually broadcast for years back in the day. I Love Lucy, The Honeymooners, & the 60s Batman all have Blu-ray releases, so why not The Munsters is mind boggling. It will sell.

People thought the same thing about I LOVE LUCY & ANDY GRIFFITH.....but they didn't. As much as I LOVE The Munsters, I KNOW they didn't beat out I LOVE LUCY!

Default Munster Go Home HD

I purchased Munster Go Home on Amazon Prime. It's in full screen 1080p HD. It looks gorgeous. Hopefully the Blu-ray will look as good or better. As for the skin color of The Munsters, Herman looks green and Grandpa, Lily and Eddie look a pale bluish color.

Very happy about this, but it would have been nice if the sequel was included, though it is not as good, but still.

I’m in for this one too.

I FINALLY cracked open my DVD set of the series and have been binge watching Season One for the last few days. One of the few television shows I loved as a child in the ‘70s that I hadn’t revisited since then. I know, why did I wait so long? I gotta say, this show holds up EXTREMELY well; still just as clever, funny and effortlessly entertaining as it was when I was a kid. Fred, Yvonne and Al are all perfection; what memorable, indelibly etched characters they gave us, and kudos to the writers for giving them so many delightfully absurd comic situations and so much hilarious-and-ridiculous-yet-somehow-utterly-convincing dialogue to work with. Such chemistry and harmony between all aspects of production; an American television classic. Extra special props, however, to Fred, whose incredibly expressive face, mastery of slapstick and excellent comic timing in general really add to the proceedings. He is the heart of the show, and his own heart really comes through in his performance.

And, considering these are old SD transfers, they look surprisingly decent when upscaled on my 4K Sony. Damn good for a DVD set, which of course I’d still upgrade in an instant if it hit Blu.

I have the German blu release, so unless there are some fantastic extras I will not double dip.
The problem I have with this movie, and The Munsters is my all time favorite TV show, is that the script borrowed ideas from the series and seemed less original and perhaps rushed.

Yep the exchange they have about Marilyn before leaving the Munster home early in the film is almost word for word the same exchange they have about her in the episode My Fair Munster. Another thing I find disappointing is the bulk of the film doesn’t take place at the Munsters home. The house is practically a character in itself.

I know the Munster's comedy was slapstick and silly at times, but when you see Herman & Grampa with such perfect comedy chemistry and timing, it's hysterical. But every funny man needs a straight man to play off of.

The makers of this film attempted to make the English Munster's just as bumbling and slapstick silly as the American Munsters and since they look completely normal and not MONSTROUS at all....it all comes across as childish and too silly for enjoyment. I always picture English people as prim and proper, but this was waaay too much for me.

I hated every scene with them and much prefer a Munster movie to stay in America at home, as another poster posted above....the house is a character in itself. This could have been MUCH better.

Wholeheartedly agree with this statement. I like this film... yet this is the whole reason why this Munster Go Home! release is NOT a day one buy for me. I'll wait until it's on sale in 6 - 12 months.

I'm glad they were able to get Butch involved in the extras. And the 2K scan of The Munsters’ Revenge is great!

Would’ve liked some participation from some of the other actors (Debbie Watson, Robert Pine, etc), but this is still really cool. Wonder if Scream Factory will release the TV show on Blu-ray.
