I've tried to contact VCI in a number of ways to no avail.

Can anyone advise?

Sounds like a botch on the picture quality, which is sad as THE LEG FIGHTERS looked fine.
It is, this could have been released as dvd. Movie is bad even for brucesploitation. Stupid plot and choreography mostly is so-so specially when Bruce kicks. Imo definitely NOT among best Bruce Lis..

For what it`s good was nice to see Ku Fung in big and cool role and Chang Tao and Lee Hoi San fights against Bruce were OK.

I have Dynamo and the 35mm looks great (relative to film stock of the era). Plus a 16mm alternate cut is included. So people can get a bit “snobby” about image in this HD era, but I can tell you the good thing is Pearl River states they will always weigh the balance of not ever releasing a film and releasing what the best source available is even if a troubled element source. Dynamo looks as good as you are ever going to get it and with the supplements and even recent on site sale for $8.99, if you complain about that you are probably looking for the wrong movies to purchase.

Leg Fighters was a 2k scan from one of the only known existing prints on 35mm. Dynamo was pulled from two sources, 35mm and print master, to get a complete version included. I’m just happy someone is giving these films “Criterion” level attention (they have no where the money or resources of course) as otherwise they live on forever in pan and scan you tube horrors.

But a good start as far as I’m concerned and will continue to support their getting these out.

PS. Dynamo looks better than half the films in the Al Adamson best seller from

Leg Fighters looked very good to my eyes - decent print and good disc authoring.

Would be nice if they could add original language audio and subs to these releases but i imagine they have an extremely small budget for a niche market. They'd probably be better off relocating to Germany, where these movies still have a big following.

That's assuming of course that the Cantonese/Mandarin dubs for the films are around?

That's true, though a nice print of Fists Of Bruce Lee recently surfaced with original audio so not impossible.

It does seem to be luck of the draw as to what survives.

Having recieved the disc as a Christmas present, I think this is a case of a poor quality print - looks to have badly faded or on poor film stock with a nasty case of green colour bias -and although the disc encoding isn't brilliant, it's not as bad as the reviews had me prepared for.

There is what appears to be a brief insert from an old 4:3 transfer, and some reels look better than others. The soundtrack in the last 5mins goes out of phase - again seems to be a print defect rather than poor disc authoriing. It does sound better on the 16mm version so maybe they could have incorporated that?

So approach with caution, but it's not the write-off I feared.

Now I think about it, I wonder if the green colour bias is what Ritrovata keeps trying to emulate!

You know the more I come back to this bluray, the more disappointed I get with the encoding. It feels like something I downloaded off the net in places where the frame is dark (like the intro with the dancer girl).

Very ballsy move from VCI to release this AND keep the intro bgm in the bluray menu, considering it's Isaac Hayes and definitely not licensed properly.
