That wasn't a remake, it was about happened at the Norwegian camp that found the alien frozen, and the ship. Remember the dog at the end is the dog we see at the beginning of the first film.

2011 prequel was OK but had a great ending, since that was a prequel I don't really mind this being another remake especially with it being more faithful to the novels and we're nearing forty years since Carpenter's.

I think he's talking about the '82 movie, not the 2011 prequel.

I am totally down for another film based on 'The Thing'.

But not from Blumhouse.

They're becoming the Marvel Studios of horror. And that's not a compliment. I don't care about box office numbers or Rotten Tomatoes scores. These films are all so damn boring and predictable.

I did like the new 'Halloween'. But upon further rewatches, there are moments that either outright drag (the high school dance stuff, the sandwich discussion) and moments of absolute dog shit humor ("peanut butter penis")--and you could argue that the film really only works because of how on-point the casting is for the three female leads.

But I feel a new version of 'The Thing' should only be in existence if it's going to come from a genuinely bold and daring filmmaker.

Why must everything be either a remake or part 2, 3, 4, or whatever chapter they decide to make !

PLEASE utilize as many practical in camera effects as possible with CGI used sparingly to enhance, not replace!

Meh, I’m good with it. I like The Thing and the prequel. Maybe it’ll be good? If not, whatever.

Right, I will wait for a trailer if it looks ok, maybe I will see it. If it does not look good I will not watch. I lose nothing.

As for a new Thing, eh, I'm indifferent. I don't really hold the 82 film on a pedestal (it's creepy and a lot of the practical effects are great but I've never really considered it one of my all time favorite horror films) and thought the 2011 movie was basically a very un-scary big budget Syfy (those practical effects tests they leaked look good, but I wish, instead of seeing just tests, I'd like to see actual full filmed scenes of the effects to see how they compared to the CG)

If it's Blumhouse though, depending on its budget, I'm expecting more practical. They often don't have the budget for CG.

If it sucks, no one has to watch it. If it's good, we've got another good movie to watch. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hopefully they have a new approach with new subtext this time. Reviews of the expanded story suggest that less was more in that case, but with luck the new text will inspire new directions for the film.

How can you read that guy's post and then quote him, and not realise he specifically said "Carpenter's film". Oh and everyone knows what the plot of 2011's The Thing is, so I don't think he needs you explaining that to him! It's a shitty "prequel" that is essentially a remake/rehash/whatever-you-wanna-call-it of Carpenter's film.

I wish I could go back in time, 30 years or so. Before all this nonstop remake crap. Before all this CGI. Before all the PG-13.

I remember....
