I was like this, too. But each UHD in the set comes in a regular case with a slipcover, so just take it apart and put the movies on the shelf. It'll probably be much less expensive than buying them individually.

A League of Their Own is the one from the set I'm most looking forward to, although the others are great too.

Don't know that yet. Popular 4K classics sell sell for less than 20 dollars all the time.

Well I can Speak for living in Canada, up here Lawrence of Arabia and Strangelove because of their popularity will retail for $35 dollars each. The other four titles in the Columbia 4k set will retail for at least $24.99. So if I wanted to purchase all six individually, my cost would be $175.00. I paid $99 dollars at Best buy, so therefore I saved Myself about $76 dollars and Six months to a year of waiting!.

The savings apply if you planned on getting at least 3-4 titles from the box .... Otherwise, it is like buying a set of a blue shirt and a pink tie, which you will never wear for e.g., for $200 assuming that if you were to buy those individually, it would cost $150 or more for each. For many, buying the shirt and tie set could be like paying $50 more over the shirt's price to get the tie, which could go to the bin no matter how good the craftsmanship on it.

Sorry Zen what you are saying does not make any sense. As a Kubrick and David Lean fan I fully intended to purchase LoA and Strangelove. Assuming My math is correct, because the price items are based on numbers I have paid for, for other titles similar to these two. I would be paying $70 dollars, so for another $30 dollars I get another four 4k movies. At those prices, each title costs me a whopping $16 dollars each. So it is a no brainer, to each his own, I did not want to wait a long time just to purchase the two movies I wanted. I will watch and enjoy all of the movies in the set. If it makes you happier to wait for the individuals, please do not let me stop you. Besides, I hate Pink Ties!.

Value per title = cost of box / titles you would have purchased independently (not the total number of titles in the box)

In case you wanted 3-4 titles at least, the set works for you! (at the price you calculated)

If you got the set for only 2 films and would not spend even $1 on remaining titles in the box if they were available independently, you should calculate the value at $50 per title as the rest of the films just happen to be in the box (no matter how good the quality of their transfer is). If you were to sell the unwanted titles or could have purchased them at a certain discounted price, the value per desired title goes down by the respective factor

I grow tired of discussing this with you. If you visit the Columbia set thread, you will not find one purchaser who is unhappy with this set, Including Myself. Many Europeans including one from as far away as Latvia, purchased this. If your happy just buying one or two, of the titles, then more power to you. Honestly I really don't care. Good day!

Watched League of Their Own last night and couldn't agree more with Martin Liebman's review here. It's another stunning HDR10 release from Sony. It was miles better than the the Blu-ray. The 4K image was beautiful. Brightness, detail levels and color saturation were outstanding. The Atmos audio track filled the room very nicely. The older 52 minute Nine Innings "making of" feature on the Blu-ray was great although there was a touch of sadness because Penny and Gary Marshall have left us. This is definitely a Grand Slam deep into the center field stands.

This was the first movie I viewed from the set. Looks (and sounds) fantastic! Such an underrated gem that has aged very well.

Another A grade catalog effort by Sony. It's almost as good as A Few Good Men for translating 35mm anamorphic to 4k digital.

The Atmos remix really improves the soundtrack and is quite tasteful.

Funny when you think about it that this was the first feature film ever released in HD for consumer usage, way back in 1992 on MUSE Hi-Vision. It's interesting to think about just how home video much have improved over those 28 years, although MUSE of course a very good effort.
