I completely sympathize with what you're saying and I'm sorry for the pain and discomfort you and your spouse have endured.

But my point is, this is just a movie. That's all it is. To make a blanket statement no children should see this movie (regardless of past abuse or not) because it would be too disturbing for them is ludicrous. That's like saying women shouldn't see movies depicting rape, veterans shouldn't see movies depicting war or recovering alcoholics shouldn't see movies depicting alcohol use. Again, it's just a movie. It's not gratuitous in its depiction of child abuse, it's not heavy handed and it has a fantastical ending.

Let's stop sheltering children and the young from every possible owee life can dish out and maybe they won't grow up to be lazy, self-entitled jerks.

Okay, I'm going to address this because you seem to have taken offense to my post. I stand by what I said regarding the film's subject matter being too much for young children to handle. The King is a frightening character; not a fantastical creature, but a man who gets his thrill from beating a child black and blue. It's not explicit but the implication is still very strong and real. That's my personal opinion but at the end of the day, it's up to individual parents to determine what they feel their children are mentally and emotionally prepared to watch.

Ok, fair enough. I did not imply all parents should foist this movie upon their children or young adults as some kind of rite of passage. But as you say, use discretion as to whether your child or young adult is mature and well-adjusted enough to view it.

Loved this one growing up. The price is way too high for a standard release. I’ll wait for the price to drop.

The chances of it dropping are slim.

“Slim”? I seriously doubt it won’t. All 4ks come out at 30+ then a month later they’re at 19.99 look at the joker 4K it’s dropped $10

The thing is that 'Joker' is a major new release with a much, much higher demand, which allows it to move A LOT more units than something niche like "Radio Flyer." The more units that they can and do sell, the lower the price becomes. But something like this which is a catalog niche release, the demand is much, much smaller and there is no real incentive for them to drop the price. With the exception of the occasional "everything sale" like Target does, that is. If you look at the sales history of similar released Sony titles you'll see that they rarely, if ever go on sale lower than $20.

Sony released Look Who’s Talking last December as one of these barebones MOD discs, and the price has never dropped below $23. These releases should be $9.99. It’s annoying.

Makes a lot of sense but I’m constantly on the Blu-ray deals page looking out for price drops. Seems I get crazy price drops all the time from catalog titles. Maybe if for just a day or two but I do come across them & get them from Amazon.

Bullmoose has them $20 pretty much all the time starting as a preorder - Free shipping is easy and no sales tax

Deep Discount occ will drop them to 20-21 and hopefully a 15% will show up then.

Until FYE started listing them at 115% MSRP, it used to be common enough to get them $14 with their 25-30% sales

I used to get them starting at $15 at twice yearly B&N 40% Off Sales -- but added coupons, member discounts, and discounted Gift Cards it really ended up net $10-11 ea Out of Pocket. The December sale only around half were allowed.

Unfortunately the last few month BBY and Target B2G1 sale have been about the best available to get them to $16+tax

I made two orders on that Target sale, but don’t recall it going for 16.

Three $22-23 titles -- B2G1 -- less than $16 each

Oh, ok.

I thought you meant a 16 dollar pre-order for the film
On its own. I wouldn’t consider the B2G1 free sale a true price drop. Not in the way one would normally think of a price drop.

This is frustrating for me as well. Some of these movies have been bargain bin staples on dvd for years. If it were released a few years ago it likely would've gotten down to $9.99 or even $4.99 as a Savestation title at Best Buy.

Maybe not much of a difference, but I preordered mine for $19.97. In fact you can still get it at that price.

Yeah, that’s my thinking — these have been bargain bin budget releases for years, if not decades, so if Sony’s going to release them on Blu-ray in this same manner, as barebones movie-only discs in standard Blu-ray cases, then they should still be priced at $7.99 - $9.99. I just can’t justify dropping $20+ on these particular releases.

Have to disagree on that last part as he enjoyed the hell out of the genre horror a lot more then Siskel. Siskel was just annoying at times.

Yeah the pricing is annoying I've had my eye on Real Genius for about 5 years but it hasn't dropped under $23, I'm holding my ground on that since I already own the movie but I would like to hear the commentary. Load these up with new features and then we'll talk.
