Correct but I don't have Peacock and have no interest in getting it as long as the NBC shows are still available for me on Hulu. So it will be nice to have Yellowstone on Paramount+.

Why wouldn't it be? Yellowstone is on Paramount Network. So it should be available on their new streaming service since they have the rights to the show.

Peacock has the digital streaming rights to "Yellowstone".

Unless the rights are only for less than a year, or they're non-exclusive digital rights like "Frasier" (available on both CBS All Access and Peacock), I wouldn't expect to see "Yellowstone" on Paramount+ at launch.

Maybe the movies?

I think they will find a way to have Yellowstone on Paramount+ at launch considering it's their most popular show. I mean both Peacock and Hulu have NBC shows on their platforms. It can be done.

But that's the problem, the classics they have available are the tip of the tip of the iceberg. Universal's been around for over 100 years, and they were extremely prolific in the golden era, they made thousands, THOUSANDS of movies. And they own 700 oldies from Paramount on top of it.

Peacock doesn't even have the complete Monster movieverse, which is comprised of barely 30 titles. One of the Invisible movies (Invisible Agent) is missing. The first 2 of the 3 Lagoon Creature movies are missing...

I check the new additions religiously. The quantity of pre-1980 movies they add is negligible. Just last week, on mid-month day (October 15th), they added about 20 movies or so. None of them, zero, were pre-1980.

I'd bet next November 1st, if we're very lucky they'll add 2 or 3, and that'll be it. And so on and so forth. The tip of the tip of the tip of the iceberg I tell you.

And where are the classic theatrical cartoon shorts? The hundreds of Woody Woodpeckers and other characters. Not a single one yet.

I don't think I'm being impatient or unreasonable. I'm interested in a kind of product they don't care to provide in any acceptable measure. And that goes for Disneyplus too.

My hopes for Paramount+ are just wishful speculation based on the fact they have a comprehensive website (paramountmovies.com) where at least they acknowledge the existence of those movies, unlike Universal's (and other major studios') websites, and the fact they mentioned something about 30,000 hours of content.

These hopes might prove to be unfounded but we'll know soon enough.
So......you jumped from a critique of the restoration of older films, to a scathing review of Peacock.....I fail to see the relativity there?

No one ever said Peacock was going to make available the entire Universal catalog for VOD all at once. They're doing what both Disney+ & HBO Max are doing, cycling content to keep it fresh. Guess what, I'll bet Paramount+ is going to do the same? CBS: AA did it too.

Creature From The Black Lagoon is on Hulu (for Huluween), obviously Universal sold viewership rights for that title. I own "Revenge/Creature" on MA, but other than Svengoolie, I've never seen Revenge on any other streaming service. Invisible Agent is not available on any streaming service.

This is in response to Alan's statement too....

The way I READ this...Peacock is the exclusive STREAMING home. Season 3 (or is it 4?) will still air on Paramount+, but the ONLY way to see all three seasons is on Peacock. I understand this means that the previous episodes will not be on Paramount+ when it debuts.

I linked the article below. If anyone interprets this differently, I'll be more than happy to listen.

But the major question is how long will they have exclusive rights to season 3? I would think Paramount+ will have all seasons available as soon as they can. I mean it's their #1 show on their own network. They will want to have it on their own streaming service.

Well, if Paramount granted streaming rights to Peacock (which it sure sounds like they did)....then NO.

You read the article I supplied, what does it sound like to you?
To me "exclusive" means "exclusively on".
Seems to me once Nov. 22nd hits, all archived episodes will be on Peacock, only the "current" season on Paramount Network.
How does one interpret this otherwise?

Ya but how long are the exclusive rights for? I doubt it will be forever and once Season 4 hits next summer I guarantee it will be on Paramount+ the next day after each episode. Peacock won't get exclusive rights for Season 4.

I don't know, and the article doesn't specify. Either of us can speculate but that would only be guesswork based on the available information.

Well Peacock won't have exclusive rights to Season 4 now that Paramount+ is coming. There is no way Paramount will allow that. I would like to think that Paramount had no idea they were getting a streaming service when they made that deal with Peacock for exclusive Season 3 streaming rights. I just can't see them giving that up if they knew they would have their own streaming service in 2021.

Well, just for perspective, Disney was in quite the same boat with Netflix when their Disney+ service launched. Even today, nearly a year later, some Disney content is STILL on Netflix....from deals signed before Disney+ was little more than an ideal. Not saying you're wrong, but there is relative precedent.

Ya and that's why I believe all of the seasons for Yellowstone will be available on Paramount+ ASAP!

Or the possibility of them figuring they could make more money from the deal than the subscribers it would drive to their own service, freeing them short term to invest elsewhere.

Exactly, OR the "possibility" they signed a "short-term" deal with Peacock, knowing it would be six mos to a yr before their own service was off the ground, and prevent the series going up for bid and going to Netflix for a "longer" term?

As I said , we can speculate, but not knowing the terms of the deal it's nothing more than speculation.

But content deals (as we've seen) are a dime-a-dozen (especially those involving ViacomCBS) and while I agree eventually Paramount+ will end up with the entire series, it may not be the case at P+'s debut?

As I said....spec-u-la-tion.....we're ALL just guessing here.

Not sure if Variety was the first to report this or not but Paramount+ launches in the US on March 4th. The article also specified Latin America for the same date.

Not gonna lie, it's beginning to be far too many streaming services now. Is it a good thing? Yeah, I'd say so, but who has time to watch all of them? Just realistically impossible.

Anyway, what'll be of TV considering all these streaming services?

Of note, it seems like Showtime will remain distanced from this flagship service, which breaks with how WarnerMedia handled Max and HBO. So that's interesting.

Also, although the service isn't "new" they are still relaunching/rebooting it, but they won't have a shiny new series to drive a lot of interest like The Mandalorian no doubt aided Disney+. HBO Max similarly didn't have anything event-worthy all the way up to the Snyder Cut and their subscriptions were slow out of the gate.
