Oooh, thanks for taking one for the team!
![]() Please, do report back with your findings regarding pq on both Olympus and London. I am eagerly awaiting your findings. ![]() Btw I noticed on AVS you went from your 550 to a 760; congratz! ![]() Quote:
I suspect this is intentional and source related so I'm not expecting the UHD to be a "real looker". |

Yep, I'll report back - but given I'm in Australia, I'm sure someone else here closer will order it and get it before me! |

Leonine is holding me back as well. I expect some form of localization issue and questionable HDR grades.
But feel free to prove me wrong you brave people. |

Most likely, the majority of UHDs released exclusively in Germany, have largely been cack-handed or had authoring issues.
Although ironically not from Leonine, based on the four titles of theirs I own. |

With Leonine (== Universum + Concorde) there's a risk of stuff like localized titles and I'm quite picky in that regard. There's a reason why I import most of my discs.
With certain German labels, I just don't buy until all possible issues have been ruled out and Universum/Concorde is a part of that group I'm afraid. PQ wise I'd also prefer to hear some thoughts or see some caps first - really not interested in spending money on sth like the German Iron Mans. Long story short, most German releases of US movies in particular are not my first choice to put it mildly. |

Had the opportunity to take a quick look at London Has Fallen today.
Main title card is in English, but thing's like "Two years later" etc are all in German, which is off putting for me too since there are quite a few of them in this movie (and Olympus too I think). From what I have seen, it looks just fine. It has that slick, super clean, razor sharp digital look, typical of modern day productions like this (not that I necessarily prefer this kind of aesthetics though). Fine details during (medium) closeups are very noticable. HDR is instantly apparent and looks pleasing throughout with some nice contrasts. The only things that look off, are some shots that I presume are taken from lower resolution sources like arial shots of the White House, an outside shot of Banning's home and a shot of Air Force One taking off at night (that one looks particularly bad, though when I checked the regular Blu-ray later on I saw that it had the same issue too just not as noticable). Going to pass on this myself (for now ![]() |

I didn't pay any attention to the audio nor did I bother to check what kind of track it was, as I only really wanted to know what the picture looked like.

Nah, I didn't.
Never have, never will. And even if I would resort to such a thing, in the end it would be basically useless to me since I always opt for having original, physical copies with artwork. |
