Yeah, you were definitely viewing it on a 120hz model tv with AMP (Auto Motion Plus). I personally don't like this effect as it makes films look too fake, but it is great for animated films such as Cars and for video games. Although, AMP can be turned off if you wanted the 120hz tv.

That's odd. Most HT stores I've been in are strategically designed to keep the TV area nice and dark/low light so the TV's look better (unlike most people's homes, where you have bright rooms or lots of reflective areas coming from windows).

If anything, I find PQ is easy to evaluate in-store, whereas AQ is much, much harder without a dedicated listening room.

They have it Sony on Auto1 (which makes what ever is being shown on it look like it's being played in 3D). I love my XBR - I've been playing around with settings all weekend and finally got it right....now I just need to calibrate it. I've got everything turned off - CineMotion and Motion Enhancement. I personally think that they are worth every penny, although my Dads Aquos is a really nice set and can be had for $1400 (40"). Something to consider for those who are looking at mid-level Sonys.

Yeah, my TV looks great as is. I see what you mean about it looking "too fake". Sort of like Photoshop CS3 for cinema. I guess I live without the 120hz + AMP for now. Definitely something to aspire to at some point I guess.

You guys have all been a great help and made me smarter. Thanks.
