I don't watch many Westerns but this is a good one. 1939 was a great year for movies and the 30's is probably my favourite decade for movies or close to it.

Showed this off to my folks, since they expressed an interest in seeing it. I think we all appreciated it. This was my second time viewing--wasn't sure what to think before, but it seemed to click better with me this time around. More than a pretty picture, it's pretty heavy.

The Green Slime

Yeah, there's no getting around how cheap this movie looks and how ridiculous the dialogue is. But hot dang, I was highly entertained by it. There is a scary premise to this--one I think kinda mish-mashes The Blob, Alien, and The Thing all together, and it makes me wonder if this was some kind of influence on the latter two. Kinda surprised to discover that this was a Fukasaku film, but it shows with the crazy way he slants the frames, shakes the camera, and cuts the film in rapid-fire. There are times where it feels effective.

But it's still pretty bad though, lol.

Though this movie had It's moments, I did prefer the original. This was a different story since he was aware of his past life and his wife sanctioned the transformation.

Sci-Fi/Fantasy

Star Wars (rewatch) -

When I hear the term "movie magic", this is the first film I think of. Whilst probably not the first film I ever saw, it's certainly the first I have any memory of. I must have been 4-5 at the time, and Attack of the Clones was coming out. Seeing Yoda in the adverts made me want to see Star Wars in any form, and I caught this on TV. Suffice to say I didn't get Yoda, but I do have a vivid memory of watching the Obi-Wan/Vader fight in my old living room, very early in the morning. As far as I'm concerned, it's a perfectly constructed adventure and still the best in the series for me. The 4k disc looks great as well.
