It depends on the TV manufacturer, but a lot of them dropped DTS from their supported formats, you should still be able to get Dolby Digital from a new LG, I think you might be able to get Dolby Digital+.

From what I can tell your current TV supports DTS, but the new one wouldn't, it wouldn't really affect much, as most Apps don't output DTS and your Blu-ray player is connected to the Onkyo directly.
It might just have been a handshake issue, but there isn't any need to use optical and ARC, ARC should suffice and work correctly. |

Hi men, how are you? I hope that you can help me to understand. So, in the livingroom, i have this PC: Mini-ITX Case: Cooler Master Elite 130 Power Supply: Seasonic SS-600BT ECO 600W Processor: 9th Generation Intel® Core™ i3 9100F (1151) Motherboard: Gigabyte B360N WIFI GB360NW Hard Disk: Samsung 840 Series 250GB SSD WD 250GB 7200RPM 16MB RAM: Crucial 16GB (1x16GB) DDR4-2666 UDIMM Graphic Card: Gigabyte GT 1030 Low Profile 2G DVD/BR Drive: Pioneer BDR 209D It started to get stuck, not responding, untill i restarted it, i put a new Hard disk, i needed to change it anyway because it was old, but when i connected to the ONKYO, keep doing the stuck and responding thing. The guy that i bougth the PC told me "try to connected directly to the TV, and let me know what happend", so i did, and for now, is ok. The bad thing that i wanted that the PC sound to get out from the reciver. But for my sorprise..(the reciver is connected to the HDMI ARC), the Pc is connected to the HDMI 1 (not ARC) on the TV, but when i pute the Reciver in TV mode, all the sound goes out from the reciver! in the windwos, i see in the volume part that the sound "goes out from the LG TV"... So, is a good thing for me, but i just can't understan why this is happend ![]() Maeby you know? Thanks :-) |

PC shouldn't be connected to the ARC, you want the TV connected to the ARC (ARC to ARC), so sound from the TV gets send to the Denon.

Ok, so i will tel you again, I have: My PC. VHS, Laserdisc and BR Player. All of that, was connected to the ONKYO (the onkyo have 4 HDMI In, BR/DVD, CAB/SAT, STREMER, GAMES) and to more RCA (for BR/DVD, CAB/SAT). And one HDMI Out with ARC (from there i toke the HDMI cable to the TV) My PC was connected to the "GAMES" HDMI, the rest is not important. A few month ago, the PC started to make problem, just stop working, was on, i see the dekstop, but didn't respond untill i do a reset. At first, i was thinking that is because of the hard disk (it was old), i put today a new one, but the same problem, so my friend told me to connect the PC direct to the TV (i did, is now connected to the HDMI 1 on the TV, non ARC), and now work find for now, it did not "freeze" yet like untill now. I was annoying because i wanted that all the PC sounds to go out from the ONKYO and not just for the TV. The Onkyo have 8 bottons: BR-CAB/SAT-STREMER-GAMES-TV-TUNER-USB and don't remember what else, maeby only 6 ![]() Now, a few month ago (i don't know if you remember) it was the problem that is i use the NETFLIX or YOUTUBE that came with the TV, the apps, the sound didn't work well, anyway, now works. Ok, so, now, i put the TV on HDMI 1, i see the PC, and the ONKYO (i really don't know why) went to the TV on the display, and when my father started to see NETFLIX from the PC, suddenly I heard the sound coming out of all the speakers, and started to check what happend if i change the mode from DIRECT-SURR-STEREO-DSP, and works like before when the PC was connected to the ONKYO ![]() I just trying to understand why is working like that if the PC is not connected to the ONKYO, only to the TV. The sound from the PC goes from the Graphic Card with an HDMI cable, i don't have any speakers connected to the PC. I really a good news for me, but like i said, i trying to understand why work like that ![]() sorry for the long explination dude :-) |

Sorry I misunderstood, if your PC is connected to the LG HDMI 1 and you have the Onkyo connected through ARC to the LG and the AVR is set to TV then it should send audio out through ARC.

Yesterday that didn't work. Today also that didn't work. This monday i put a new streamer from a company here, i saw today that the internet cable was a little out, i put back in and the sound started working again, untill now still works. Can that be the problem?? (i don't know what to think anymore haha) |
