My favourite live action movies ever: pirates of the Caribbean! :-) With my ranking as follows:

Dead man’s chest
Dead Men Tell No Tales/Salazar’s revenge
On Stranger tides
At worlds end
Curse of the Black Pearl
Tales from the pirate code: Wedlocked

If anyone reading this and please pray and continue to post as much support as you can towards the series to not only have a continue but also have Johnny Depp come back to his iconic role as Captain Jack sparrow, it would be very much truly gratefully appreciated! :-)

Also please remember that people say all the time if they’re not coming back in Hollywood only to end up coming back; only if you truly give up and not supported will he never come back, so in all mean in the word just don’t give up on us and you may never know What could very well happen :-) as a friend of mine Has taught me, if you continue to do something, continue to try, something Can and Will always truly happen no matter what no matter how otherwise it may seem :-)

Yes, But as you can see I updated it to the tales from the pirate code: Wedlocked short film To be my least favourite overall. As much as I love this franchise, again being my favourite live action movies overall, with Captain Jack sparrow being my favourite character in fiction Of all time, I actually have a lot of issues with Curse of the Black Pearl, And Honestly I am quite shocked that people love it as much as they do. It has bad pacing, Feels Slow and drags on And like Roger Ebert even says “it Overstays it’s welcome“ And feels Too long even though it is shorter than the second and third ones. This is Mainly because there is way too much talking and like the writers Have said “characters telling stories” With three major scenes of Backstory and Lore exposition Where then they act like you have to already know some of this stuff before going in to watch it when There is no book or really anything to fall back on knowing what is going on beforehand even though it is based on a theme park ride. Because they mention things but don’t really explain them such as “the treasure of Cortez himself“. Who the heck is Cortez? If I didn’t know any better I would guess that it’s tied itself into the spy kids franchise since Disney overall owned them at the time. I know who he is now, and I know that it’s not relevantly important, but when you were watching the movie and trying to follow along, it becomes confusing and hard to care about/get into if you don’t fully understand what they mean by things especially when they’re obscure Not generally known things.

I like the sequels A lot better not Specifically because I am older, And not only because I knew/know what to expect, But because the expedition in the sequels is not only a lot less talky Talky, But they also explain things in a much more easier and or general way to understand such as The black spot used to track Captain Jack by Davy Jones, which is based on Sea lore and mythology, but was directed and presented in a way That makes it very straightforward and easy, Not to mention pretty obvious to follow.I also think the sequels do a much better job with their themes, Especially the ones carried over from the first one about being true to And having the freedom to be your true self, and doing what you truly need to do in order to have things work out for you And what you truly want And even truly need, regardless of what society and or any other organization or individual may think and or even be against you.

Going back to the exposition explanation in the first one, people Overlooking and being OK With and even praising it is more than kind of contradicting a lot of their mindsets towards movies in general as film Is show don’t tell right? Besides being less talky, The later movies also Added on/did things that the first one should’ve done such as having sound effects when Barbosa is telling Captain jack what happened to the Black Pearl in On Stranger Tides, and actually showing what Captain Jack did to Salazar in Dead men tell no tales/Salazar’s revenge. Heck, they also even included flashbacks when Christopher Plummer explains the backstory on the treasure at the beginning of national treasure 1, And that came out a year and a half after Curse of the Black Pearl here. They didn’t Have to include a flashback or whatever else with every exposition seen, but it would’ve truly benefitted to have At least partially included them for some of them and or at least the sound effects like they did on Stranger tides as needless to say, it’s not very difficult to do and evidentially Several other movies and shows did those same kind of things around that time. And on that note,Just because it’s different does not mean that it’s necessarily good and it’s not a good mindset to get into when looking at things. Which I think is one of the main reasons why people like which I think is one of the main reasons why people like this and certain other movies this and certain other movies, which is actually being quite ignorant and naïve towards things like why does it matter so much and why do you like movies and or even this kind of thing in general? Another thing with that is that a lot of people around my age at the time, As well as seemingly a good Number Of other people liked this and yet A lot of the same people do/did not like Harry Potter [and this was released right after the first two Harry Potter’s came out a.k.a. the two that are The easiest to follow and arguably the only really comprehensible ones for those who haven’t read the books], and even lord of the rings All more Then seemingly because they want to grow up too fast and “Be more mature”/smarter than they already are and what they want to be.

Don’t get Me wrong, I actually do like Curse of the Black Pearl, And find it definitely more watchable now then when I was younger, even Though I still have my issues with it and think that it’s a bit of a chore to watch, These are just my thoughts and Exposition towards why and how I feel towards it :-)

Also, The Wizarding world/Harry Potter movies and here are my rankings:
1) Fantastic beasts and where to find them [My favourite movie actually just a movie that’s pretty much perfect and truly captures the essence of What the Wizarding world truly is; And just overall more fun more magical and with better characters and overall plot and themes in the Harry Potter movies especially the later ones ironically and surprisingly directed by David Yates who truly redeemed himself with this movie :-)

2) Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets [the one movie that also truly captures the feeling and a sense of being in the Wizarding world and just the most heartfelt and moving out of all of them. “It is not our abilities that make us who we truly are. It is our choices“:-) Just an all-around very very satisfying and Near perfect movie If it’s only issue been a little long and slow paced and as such need to be in a particular mindset in Order to Truly enjoy it but aside from that again what more can I say :-)

3)Harry Potter and the goblet of fire [the most engaging Harry Potter movie that even with the infamous Gambon scene and The pacing which like literally every other movie changes depending on the mood in mindset you’re in when you’re watching it so it’s really not much of an issue [trust me despite what most may think order of the Phoenix is way way way way way way way worse in this department] Is still enthrallingly entertaining And believe it or not actually truly captures the feeling of the Wizarding world and is actually a lot more loyal to the book than most people realize with a lot of little hints and winks towards things that they left out such as the sorting and just a bunch of little things here and there that if you truly pay attention the capture the essence of something being there even if it’s not there :-)

4)Harry Potter and the stone [what more can I say? Just and all around classic Charming and nuanced movie :-)

5) fantastic beasts And the secrets of Dumbledore [even though they don’t fully explain certain things at least not right away, the more that you think about it the more it truly makes sense as if you have a problem with how one scene makes sense then take a look at another similar scene in the movie such as how when Jacob saw Queenie in the bakery but it was just in his head explaining the opening scene between Dumbledore and Grindelwald which for the record makes me quite shocked and astounded that people did not catch up on it right away when there were a lot of visual clues with it even without having to be explained by this other scene later on if you pay attention To the lighting and the fact that it ends with the scene catching on fire which can literally only happen in someone’s mind. As well, other things like Dumbledore And Creedence’s duel can be explained If you pay attention to what goes on leading up to it same with the blood pact duel at the end again with the way the senior shot is taking place in their heads with it being the battle of their hearts [and let’s just say yes, in the kingdom of theirs…… :-) I also give the movie praise for David Yates finally finally finally finally finally using direct themes from the earlier movies besides Hedwig‘s theme and a few brief glimpses of other themes for not only the Hogwarts scenes but the case battle scenes towards the end, again like he has with fantastic beasts Movies So far truly redeeming himself from the lousy and unacceptable mistakes he made with his Harry Potter movies :-)

6)Fantastic beasts And the crimes of Grindelwald [Similar to a lot of you, I was mixed on at the first time I saw it but then When I went back and re-watched it and I only understood it and got it but I actually really really like it now And continue to love it the more that I watch it to the point one very shocked that especially hard-core Harry Potter fans didn’t get it as it actually does make a lot of sense if you truly pay attention to it and it’s actually really not that hard to follow even if it is convoluted and overambitious with a lot of things. The theatrical cut is actually overall better than the extended cost even though there are certainly a few Deleted scenes that they definitely should’ve included that would’ve helped a lot of people like the movie a lot more, The great deal of them or actually not that needed if you actually paid attention and don’t overthink it :-)

7) Harry Potter and the deathly hallows part 1 [The only truly good David Yates Harry Potter movie, in other words the only one that he actually put true effort into with capturing the True essence of being in the Wizarding world like the earlier movies that I mentioned above, actually willing to give time to more characters like with George And his ear etc. and even moments that they did not keep in the movie which were overall understandable for being Cut they gave to us as deleted scenes, Which is again much more significant than his other Harry Potter movies overall which either gave us completely pointless and unnecessary and unacceptable deleted scenes and or should’ve given us more.

You may have also noticed here that all of my rankings here except for secrets of Dumbledore were released in November, which says something about the time of year and which was released giving better quality when released in November/the spring compared to the summer releases……]

8)Magic beyond words the J. K. Rowling story [now this is a movie that most people over walk and probably have never seen let alone even know exists. Nonetheless it is still a worthy movie to see as It’s truly very inspiring and emotionally poignant, Absolutely tromping not only DH2 Which was released the same Weekend/month/year, but more so than any of the other summer released Harry Potter movies. Seriously it comes highly recommended harry Potter fan or not :-)

9)Harry Potter and the half blood Prince [fittingly enough, this movie is very much a half and half bag for me. It has some of the best things in the movies and also some of the worst. We have some of the best humour and character moments and also some very nice little things that like some people have pointed out how it feels like a return the form of what the first two movies were like, With also little things like how the venomous tentacula Looks reminiscent to how it looks in the first two Harry Potter computer games which are personally my favourite media of Harry Potter of all time better than the Books and movies :-) on the other hand, it also has some of the worst action ever put To film which is overall very inexcusable especially when David Yates literally Just proved in Order of the Phoenix that he can direct more than decently good action, Not to mention as well the biggest filler and most pointless waste of Movie at storytelling that I’ve ever seen with him wasting nearly a4 of the whole movie on Malfoy in the room of requirement which literally adds on nothing especially when one of those sequences wasn’t even in the script suffer all of those who give Steve Kloves A lot of flack for this movie let alone the series in general just remember that it wasn’t his intention to have there be as much Malfoy in the room of requirement……]

10)Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban [now there are a lot of things that I like about this movie like how Alfonso was able to bring the world to life with a lot of detail and a lot of use of animals etc. in the background however I cannot Ever forgive the movie for radically changing so much from the Overall far superior First two movies. Even if there is an explanation alluded to by Dumbledore when he’s talking to fudge during the time Turner sequence explaining the bridge and different things etc. it does not explain how on earth it’s possible for them to have moved the whomping willow which we also know through clear background details Of there being werewolf claw mark scratchesThat it was used for lupin‘ S transformation while at Hogwarts despite never been explained. On that note, it is a huge mistake for them to have left out explaining who the marauders were especially when the following movies act like they already know who they are which again was not intended by Steve Kloves As he did plan for lupin To reveal to here at the end that James was prongs, but again they left it out on the movie. Also it has two of the cringiest Moments that I have ever seen in any motion picture movie TV or whatever: “Dumbledore“ [notice how are used quotes here?……] Tapping Ron’s bandaged foot [Again not in the script], which thankfully Morgan here being literally the only other person I’ve ever met/seen who actually agrees with me on this. WTH!!!!!!!!! this is actually Overall worse than what he did in goblet of fire. Does this sound at all like something Dumbledore would do? And also Tom’s idiotic laugh. WTH?! Are they that desperate for humor?]

11) Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix [now, this is my favourite out of all the books actually, and I know this is your favourite Morgan, but by golly especially as an editor I’ve noticed a lot of jarring things about this movie that even if You weren’t a film buff you would immediately Notice, Again being the number one movie/TV/whatever that truly exemplifies this. Like I said earlier, goblet of fire gets a lot of flak fourth piece feeling rushed but honestly this feels way more rushed regardless of the mood that you’re in watching it. It honestly doesn’t even feel like a movie at times, it feels like there is a longer better movie than they had planned that they butchered and cut up here, Which David Yates Has Even literally confirmed in an interview and yet for whatever reason will not do anything about it.I know this was his first theatrical film overall but there is no difference at all between making a theatrical movie in a made for TV movie which he had done up until this point. Here is actually acting like he’s never made a movie before and it shows. Not only is the movie over edited and rushed feeling, but there’s a lot of editing mistakes that I’ve noticed in two Moments in particular: when Dumbledore enters the court and says his name, pay close attention when he Gets to his third name. It sounds like/You can tell that they merged two takes together and not only because the scene cuts to a different angle then but either way it takes me out of the movie and you should not be feeling that when watching it. Another moment is when Bellatrix says at the end “you filthy Half blood!“ Pay close attention to it it sounds very off and again just takes me out of the movie. Again, overall the movie just feels like adoringly and over edited Movie that’s Even a bit Inconsistent with it’s already jarring Andover done Editing]

12) Harry Potter and the deathly hallows Part 2 [ It is honestly in my top three biggest cinematic disappointments that I’ve ever experienced in my life and right up there with all of disappointments that I’ve experienced in my life overall [and trust me if you knew the level in which I have in my life that’s more than Truly saying something……]. The whole movie just has this tone and feeling of “let’s just get this over with” attitude as if they couldn’t wait to End The series, without any sort of celebration or true passion in doing so, and it literally shows Throughout everything they’ve done. The cinematography Especially during most of the battle of Hogwarts scenes Has horribly abysmal colouring and lighting where you literally cannot see a thing that’s going on that’s only truly a big waste to all The effort not to mention money they put into. Not only because it’s the shortest of the whole series excluding magic beyond words, but every scene just flies by way too fast again as if they are focussing more On efficiency which yeah overall they need to do but they also need to take the time to stop and celebrate things like they did in DH1 because of course it is the end of the series, So it’s actually therefore more important that they do so here than the previous one where they didn’t even have to do some of the stuff they did there. Everyone is just acting like they want to officially get this over and done with Even acting like they’d rather be anywhere else but there, And like some of pointed out Ralph Fiennes‘s Acting is Razzie worthy, Regardless of how overreactive he is being as Voldemort up until and including this point. It’s action sequences are certainly overall better than half blood Prince, but they feel very mediocre/average overall with dear I see it movies and shows like what’s on Disney Junior and even Fant4stic With its very little bit of action being way more engaging then most of what we saw here. The music here is also very disappointing as it goes from the series having some of the best music I’ve ever heard in my life to having the horrible droning statues/Courtyard apocalypse/Main battle of Hogwarts theme just feeling very depressing and not engaging for an all-out [let alone final] series of battles. As well, with the exception of Snape, None of the deaths Have any sort of emotion and or are ruined by little things Such as Molly Smiling after she kills Bellatrix proving that there’s no difference between good and evilEtc. and with that, once you hear the behind the scenes of it, this should very well make your blood boil: the deleted scene of Lupin And Tonks meeting on the battlements was fully intended by David Yates to be in the movie but the only reason why It wasn’t is because they didn’t have time to convert the movie into what is literally the most pointless use of 3-D in any movie that has been converted into 3-D in this modern age of 3-D conversion…… Even with the fact that they did thankfully release it as a release deleted scene, that’s still not acceptable at all, especially when they’ve literally stated that they would only ever convert the movies to 3-D if it truly added on something which it absolutely did not. With all of this being said, I do not understand how on earth anyone can like this as much as they do. They deliberately manipulated us with this because of it being the last one so of course they know that we are already going to be emotional with it so again they did not truly put any passion or effort into it because they already knew that the movie would be successful enough without it though of course they still want to be more greedy with it by adding on the pointless use of 3-D! Needless to say this is literally The most cash Grabby thing I’ve ever experienced from any kind of movie; seriously I consider this even more so than at least most of Disney’s direct to video sequels.

Thankfully the fantastic beasts movies came around to redeem this abomination especially secrets of Dumbledore actually makes me hate this even more for I felt way more emotionally invested [Seriously I actually cried way more when the baby qilin A magical creature died and at the end!] and again David Yates actually did things that he really really really should’ve done Here and not done the mistakes That he made here even if it wasn’t entirely his fault.

It truly is a shame that the fantastic beasts movies Have to suffer for being more genuine and passionately made whereas this Abomination has to be celebrated. And the thing is quite a lot of people that I know m did not actually go and see where to find them [and actually still have not seen any Of the fantastic beasts]Even though most of them loved DH2 Which only proves that after a while they realize just how Badly made this atrocity is. When will our retarded world let alone species ever let the innocent and the good actually Truly triumph regardless of how ironic it may be?]

Totally agree, the end always gets me a bit sad as it sets everything up great for continuing Dirk Pitt movies. McConaughey was great as Pitt and whilst i wasn't crazy about Zahn as Giordino, he had a good rapport with McConaughey, they just made Giordino a bit too silly/ comic relief.

Aside from it not being a financial success i think there was a big lawsuit from Cussler after the release as well which didn't help matters. I think there were also talks of where all the money went as the budget seemed a lot higher than what was on screen (don't get me wrong, it's a grand big scale adventure but at the time in 2005 i think it was a $150Mil price tag and i'm not sure the movie looks like it cost that much).

Anyway that's all an aside, it's a movie i never get tired of watching and Dirk Pitt could have had a great run of movies, such a shame. Now Cussler has passed i wonder if somebody else could try and bring the character to the screen again, i'm not sure how his son feels about the series and its movie potential.
