I'm a bit unsure about this collection so far! I try to only buy 4k Steelbooks now, but I ordered Duel as it's been on my wanted list for ages and I don't think we'll get a 4k steel. I already own 2 Jaws steelbooks, I considered buying The Thing, but decided to wait for 4k. I think the Hindenburg artwork is great, but I don't have any interest in the film.

Isn't The Thing the old Universal disc as this is where HMV are sourcing titles from ? rather than the newer Arrow one. I'm sure I read that The Thing is definitely coming to 4K UHD soon.

Got The Hindenburg as great artwork despite already having the German BD. BTW this is a UK exclusive for the title as not released here to date.

Interesting choice, it does look good.

Not sure on the film though.

Also, why is the Jaws one £25 and the others in the series are £15??

Because it’s 4K.

Good grief that is awful! Obviously a marmite decision, presumably dependent largely on whether you're a manga fan or Japanese pop culture enthusiast (of which I am neither).

I'll happily wait for either a plastic case or a steelbook with Western artwork.

This release still doesn't have the original mono though right? If it only has the 5.1 mix with the missing elements then it's an easy pass.

I am both, and I think this case is hideous.

Judging from the content and the specs on this site, the disc appears to be identical to the previous release, which seems to be out-of-print and is disgustingly overpriced on certain sites.

However, it can be bought second-hand from Cex for £8!

I could never find an answer to this. I was wondering if the 5.1 mix restored the original horn sound effect at the end or if it was still the revisionist version form the DVD 5.1 mix.

I found this out too late as I already ordered a UK copy, but
the American release (region free) contains the new 5.1 and the original mono tracks.

Looking at reviews of that release and comparisons to the TV version (plus fan-made recreations/re-edits of both), no-one mentions a different or absent truck horn sound, though one Amazon reviewer does mention a different train horn sound.

I did find this on dvdcompare.net, referring to a different sound effect:
[Show spoiler]NOTE (INCLUDES A SPOILER!):
Original Mono track on R1 differs slightly from the remixed 5.1 DD/DTS tracks for the ending scene. When the truck goes over the cliff, the "dinosaur roar" heard in the Mono track is missing in the 5.1 tracks, and the whole sequence overall is audio wise slightly different.

so the original dinosaur roar hasn't been reinstated on the DTS-MA 5.1 on the Blu-ray. it's still the modified horn from the DVD 5.1 mix.

I'll get the US release then.

That cover art is quite spoiler-ish.
