IMO, Douglas Trumbull was much better suited for special effects work than he was being a director.

IIRC Mark Kermode (noted British film critic) loves this film - sadly I can't say that I share his enthusiasm.
For my part I think the film has some serious narrative shortcomings, and much of the effects work and cinematography is showing its age. That said, even to this day the robots continue to impress. |
