CrockettandTubbs, I could swear you asked me recently whether they had done an edition of Discovering: Film about Marlene Dietrich (unless it was someone else here). Have checked Sky's On Demand service and it appears to have all previous thirteen series/seasons. Marlene Dietrich was the subject of the very first edition (Series 1, Episode 1).

If the current series of Discovering: Film consists of thirteen editions, I'm guessing it will have a short break over the Christmas and New Year holidays, finishing later on in January.

Hopefully, I'll enjoy this coming Thursday evening's/night's new edition (about Kevin Costner).

Hoping Dr. Bonnie Greer appears sometime during the new series of Discovering: Film, as I've enjoyed listening to her opinions.

You've got plenty to catch-up on. There is also The Directors, which has the same film critics contributing. Not sure if the Discovering: Film specials are available.

Not sure why, but the Brigitte Bardot edition of Discovering: Film was shorter than the usual length of around forty-five minutes.

I watched S1E1 last Night, Marlene Dietrich.

It was great. I hope this level of quality is maintained.

You will find on some editions that when an actor was prolific, some films do get skipped (so you may end up being slightly disappointed). The quality in my opinion is maintained (you may find as well that certain critics on the show give their opinion in a certain way (it's difficult to explain).

I didn't particularly like how Neil Norman spoke about one of Charles Bronson's films from the early eighties (I'm biased yes, he was entitled to his opinion, but I thought he went a bit far), and it's stuck in my mind ever since. I've enjoyed Derek Malcolm's contributions, but the more recent addition to the group of film critics contributing seems obsessed with originality and film characters not being pantomime characters.

The edition of Discovering: Film I've enjoyed the most so far was the one about Gene Hackman.

Have you watched any further editions of Discovering: Film since you last posted?

Episode 1 on Thursday 17th February is Steven Spielberg.
Episode 2 on Thursday 24th February is The Coen Brothers.

According to the trailer broadcast on Sky Arts, the remaining 8 directors featured in the new series are:
Christopher Nolan
John Singleton
Antoine Fuqua
Nora Ephron
Jonathan Demme
Wes Anderson
Barry Levinson
Alexander Payne

I am not sure yet which order they will be featured.

Thanks for your contribution. Although I'll be updating the list I posted further up this page on a weekly basis still (like with Discovering: Film).

Have you been lurking on the forum for long?

I've done around 6-7

I usually wait until wife and kids are otherwise occupied, then treat myself.
Unfortunately those moments are few and far between

Gene Tierney: A Forgotten Star is back on at 15.00 on the 22nd of June.

It appears Sky Arts are repeating the 'Discovering' (insert actors name) series from tomorrow morning at 10.00. It seems consistent up until next Wednesday at least. That's as far as my planner goes up to.

Marlene Dietrich is Series 1 Episode 1

I was hoping we might be getting the start of a new series of Discovering: Film or/and The Directors soon. I've been checking the Sky Arts listings in the TV listings magazine I regularly get for the past few weeks, but sadly no new series yet.

Sky Arts... these have been on before. The Chaplin and Bruce Lee docs are good, not watched the Viola Davis chat.

Chaplin: The Birth of the Tramp - 21.00-22.15 Wed 29th
Bafta: Life in Picture - Viola Davis 01.10-02.10 Thu 30th
I Am Bruce Lee - follows directly on from the above Bafta programme

BBC4
Ingrid Bergman in Her Own Words - 19.20-21.00 Thu 30th... repeated after the Parky chat
Parkinson interviews Ingrid Bergman - 01.00-01.30 Fri 1st

Sky Arts..
Corman's World: Exploits of a Hollywood Rebel - feature film... 03.15-04.45 Fri 1st

That's all the film related stuff I could see for the coming week.

I wasn't sure where to post it (posted it in another UK TV Shows thread this week, film-related), about a repeat of arts discussion programme Face to Face. It's on BBC Four tomorrow night, where actress Simone Signoret is being interviewed.

I might check out that documentary I Am Bruce Lee.

Started watching the documentary I Am Bruce Lee last night. Only complaint is with the words popping up onscreen when you hear/see the soundbites from various people.

From the off, Mickey Rourke and Ed O'Neill came out with very strong language. I was surprised that Ed O'Neill has an interest in martial arts (I only knew him from his TV work (especially Married with Children).
