I would like to agree and they could have been remastered better but with how awful Shenmue III is it was best that they got left as is. Last edited by Hayabusa85; 09-23-2020 at 02:50 PM. |

Sony could use a MGS1 remake.
I still like the old style graphics of the original, but a reboot of the game could be cool to see and would sell like hotcakes to counter MS's move with buying Bethesda games. |

Never been a fan out this series outside of Snake Eater but this would be a big deal for a lot of people. Personally I'd just like to see Sony keep partnering with Konami if it could lead to something good happening with Castlevania and Silent Hill. Konami is pretty much dead as a developer right now so I don't see why they wouldn't just let Sony run wild with their IPs.

I think the only one of those I'd be interested in are MGS1 and MGS4.
MGS1 would need a full remake for me to get the graphics up to snuff, controls more on part with MGS5 etc. I haven't played it since PS1 and never got around to the Twin Snakes remake. So that said, I'd be ok with a remake of that version. MGS4 is the only one I've never played so I'd be down for a good remaster there to experience it. I got a PS3 pretty late in the gen last time and just never got around to it. MGS 2 and 3 I played a few years back on the HD collection on Vita and played MGS5 this gen of course. Not itching to replay those. I play these games mostly for the story (don't really like stealth games and didn't enjoy the gameplay much until 5) and the stories are too fresh in my mind for those. |

I’ve only played MGS4 on PS3, and while I remember loving the gameplay, the cutscenes were ****ing brutal. Regardless, I’d be interested in this for sure, given the reception to the FFVII remake. I’d like to see where it started.

A full remake of the first game seems like a no brainer. Remaking any of the games after that seems like a far bigger task, which makes it quite easy to believe that they would get deluxe remasters rather than from the ground up remakes.
Also, I can't imagine the Tanker intro for MGS2 looking any better. Maybe its nostalgia but despite the dated models and textures it just looks phenomenal. One of those things where they could make it super slick but I think they'd still struggle to capture the magic of it. |

To your point, Sony would never buy the entire company. That makes no sense as Konami is much more than its videogames. If anything, Sony could buy individual IPs with MG being the main one they'd target. Silent Hill, Castlevania and the rest just wouldnt be worth it IMO |

People were excited for another Kojima game. Silent Hill was never a major seller and his name as well as the hot Hollywood talent and the PT buzz blew that up. The entire series has only sold 9 Million copies across all its games since 2019. Resident Evil 7 alone did about 8 million in comparison. People are really overvaluing the actual value of the SH IP.

How am I undervaluing it? Sony has franchises in its staple that can do better with one game than SH's entire lifetime sales. Buying up that IP wouldnt be worth it and definitely not as a sound longterm investment. The SH doesnt have the clout that you may think it does

Now this would have me hyped for the PS5, give us remakes/remasters of the first 3 game collection and I will be content
In regards to Silent Hill, my wife was just asking me about it the other day, if a new one was coming out as we used to play them together back in the PSOne, PS2 days. Those could do with a remake/remaster as well. |

If a MGS1 remake happens then I can die a happy man...in 50 years or so. But there are so many rumors that turned out to be BS. But if the rumors about Sony having a deal with Konami were true and remakes of MGS1 and a new Silent Hill game were to be released on PS5 then I'd be rather happy. MGS1 and SH1 are my all-time favorite games. Still own my original US imports from the 90s.
